Put an ice cube behind and in front of your ear (pinch it in between) before she pierces it so it doesn't hurt as much. Make sure she marks the ears on both sides (before the ice) to get them even with just a small dot of black permanent marker. She should put the dot evenly with the other ear above or below where she is going to pierce. Make sure you use good quality earrings, not cheapies, they could get a bad infection. Turn them everyday, 3 times a day for the first week or longer, so the earrings do not grow into the meat of your ear and when you do this put some peroxide on them...... or is it alcohol?..... Either way, take care of them. My best recommendation would be to have them done by a professional not just a professional know it all......... :)

Yeah. When getting your ears pierced it won't hurt as much if you GET IT DONE BY A PRO! There's a REASON you have to be licensed to pierce people. It can REALLY go wrong. You could get freaking blood poisoning!

Go get it done by a professional, it won't hurt at all.

I've done a lot of my piercings myself, and didn't use anything to numb them or anything. They didn't hurt.

But if you're worried about the pain, use ice.

Are you doing it this way cuz your mom is saying No? Please wait until you can go to a professional- or at least to one of those stores in the mall where it's all sterile. Your pediatrician would be the best place. It's true, things can get pretty ugly doing it on your own- silly to take chances with your health when it's not necessary.

Orajel or any kind of numbing ointment that you would use for a toothache. But make sure to wipe it off with alcohol before your friend pierces it. you don't want a nasty infection.
