Leave the walls, and use both rooms...one for a bedroom, and one for an office/den.

I would advise you to sketch out what you are proposing as you need to see if the one room will be balanced if you know the wall down. We did as you describe but never drew a sketch before hand. I now find myself with and unbalanced room that is hard to arrange. All the best and I'm sure it will be fine once you have sorted out a few things first off before getting the builder to take down the wall. He will probably have to put in an RSJ reinforced joist to strengthen the ceilings.and you will end up with the two small bits at the end of each wall anyhow or even an archway..

i agree with the others one leave it as two rooms how-ever if your wantining a larger room than why not try cutting an arch-way between the rooms. that way you have seperation but you have joining rooms also, an archway is a lot easier than removing the whole wall and you can make it various sizes. which would leave the oppertunity to seperate the two at a later date if the need should arise by simply installing sliding doors like churches and other meeting places

i would leave the wall and turn one into a bedroom and leave the other as a sitting room. with a small sofa or love seat or both depending on the size of the room. that way if you had company or friends you would have a place to hang out other than just sitting on your bed.

First of all you need to know if this wall is a Load bearing wall, [IE supporting a load of the roof, ] if it is and you knock it out the house can collapse,, personaly i,d just leave the door way in it, and have 2 rooms,

knocking down the wall would be expensive, messy and time consuming. I would try the two room thing

I would leave both rooms, then you have the option of decorating in two completely different styles. One big room also would depreciate the value of the house.

I did this and made a larger living room when I sold the house that was one of the major attractions.
