No, it is not true that tongue piercings crack your teeth, it is the barbell that you wear in it. I don't know anyone that doesn't play with their piercings and the metal clicking on your teeth will do it. Personally, I have never tried the plastic barbells but maybe they would be safer for your teeth.

You can chip your teeth quite easily but cracking would be unlikely just to have it happen. But tongue rings make the inamil on the inside of your mouth weaker over time. Dentists hate tongue rings ... so if you get it expect to have check ups more often to check the strength. My dentist told me he'd just pull out all of my teeth for me before I ever got it so they must be pretty curosive. Think hard about this, they can cause a lot of dental problems.

I've had mine pierced for about 5 years and no chipping/cracking yet. I use the metal bar bells too, I don't like the plastic ones. Also no problems with my gums either, my bar bell is nowhere near my gum line .

I'm sure it can crack your teeth if you're not careful, but then so can a million other things.

everybody who has or has had their tongues pierced to not have cracked teeth. it's not as if the instant one gets their tongue pierced their teeth crack. however having a stainless steel metal bar with stainless steel balls can and probably does sometimes cause tooth chipping and possibly cracking. it's not easy to talk and eat at first and the more you play with it the more at risk you are for damaging your teeth. i had my tongue pierced for 6 years and i never had a cracked or chipped tooth HOWEVER my bottom ball did lay on my gumline and damaged it. ultimately that's why i got rid of my tongue piercings because my dentist said that if it continued to lie on my gumline it would push them down so far that my teeth would fall out. DEFINITELY not worth losing teeth.

Any type of metal barbel can take the enamel off your teeth, it's recommended that after about 4 weeks of having it pierced, you should have it switched over to a plastic barbel. Plastic does no damage to your teeth.
Hope this helped! :)

Yes!
My boyfriend had his pierced years ago (before I knew him of course, I think they're disgusting) and it cracked one of his teeth. Just a few months ago his mouth hurt so bad it made him sick for a week straight he couldn't get out of bed. Needless to say, he had to get the tooth pulled. and it sure wasn't cheap.

It is possible but unlikely unless you have very weak enamel on your teeth. I have had my tongue pierced for 7 years now and my dentist and I have never had any issues with it.

Not if you use the plastic balls and also use the new posts that are flexable it helps you control the ring so it doesnt smack your teeth.
