They might keep you overnight in a hotel, but they normally send you to boot as fast as possible.

First off, talk to a recruiter about your options; what job you want to do in the Army and how long you want to serve; after you get the paperwork done; you will enter into a DEP (delayed entry program) unit for a couple of months; in the meantime, you can work on physical training like run, do pushups and situps and get fit, while you are on the DEP, you will get to visit units and learn very basic stuff; the recruiter will give a manual called Soldier Common Tasks Manual; read it and get acquainted with the basics of military training.

After a while, you will visit the MEPS station for your swearing in and lots of paperwork; then you will be given a date to report to your basic training station, which will differ depending on the MOS (military occupational Specialy) that you choose to sign into the Army as.

It will be a strange time in your life and you will feel apprehensive, maybe even scared; but rest assured that once you go through basic training and become a soldier, your life will change for the better; it will reveal a part of you that you never thought you had.

I wish you the best in your Army career and hope that you can get out of it as much as I did.

I went to meps to take the asvab and to enlist. I went back a day before basic and did more paper work and medical stuff and then left from there to Fort Jackson. So your final trip to the meps you will leave for basic. You don't get to go back home till after AIT.

Normally you go to meps for your physical, etc. Then you get sworn in and go home. You return to meps on the date in your enlistment packet (that meps sends you home with) and then get shipped off to basic.

You go to MEPS for inprocessing, some briefings, a preliminary swear-in, and a physical. Then you come back home until everything is processed, then your recruiter will call you and let you know what's going on, and give you some dates that you can choose to go to basic training.

You have two meps appointments, the first you will get your physical and get your job afterwhich you go home to await your ship date, the second appt you get a mini-physical, they verify everything is good on you and you ship out the next day.

i signed up in meps in january, then flew out that may, so absolutely not. You need a ship date, and a reservation for basic, which doesn't happen instantly

You go straight to boot camp. You can invite your family to witness your swearing in at MEPS, and then say good-bye.
