the only way to see the abs with out flexing is by reducing the body fat percentage.

You wouldn't want to use machines to get abs anyways.
If by this you mean doing it at home. The best suggestion I can give you is to do crunches, 3 to 4 sets of 15 to 20, as well incorporating cardio. Cardiovascular exercise will help you lose fat and thus reveal your abs.

crunches, crunches on the ball, decline weightes crunches...when it comes to abs it's actually all about diet and cardio and some weight training the abs...I recommend doing abs 5 days a week...a cycle of... lower abs one day, upper abs the next day, followed by the obliques... if you do so much for abs you get no results and your abs become so accustomed to it like any other exercise.. www.bodybuildng.com has some great ab articles and great exercises for your core.. Also I would recommend doing Squats and Deadlift where your abs definitely get used in those movements.

use a stability ball.
i used it and it gave me amazing abs in 2 weeks
just make shure to do it right(ask a trainer or watch a a video)

200 sit-ups a day. (spread them out if you like)
50 crunches on each side (150 total)
planks do 20 and hold for 30 seconds each
eat healthy! or nothing JK!
