i'm a 14 yr old female. Today i noticed a lump (i guess the side of like a kidney bean :P) anyway it doesn't hurt much but i can feel it when i swallow and its pretty irritating. This may have nothing to do with it but i sometimes have trouble breathing (no known cause .. don't ask) anyway any possible ideas? Oh ya being the parents that they are, my parents (and older brother) have decided to completely ignore me about it saying "oh you'll be fine" and "we'll talk about it 2morrow" .. ya right. So help would be greatly appreciated! thx =)

Can you bring it up to the school nurse? It might be a swollen lymph node. But, it really should be checked out to be sure by someone who knows what they are doing.

If this lump is causing you to have difficulty in breathing, you NEED to get it evaluated by a physician ASAP. It may be obstructing your breathing passage. It is possible that it could be a developing peritonsilar abscess, or some other very serious ailment, such as a polyp or tumor. These could be fatal if left untreated and they block your airway. I would try to be more convincing to my parents if I were you, especially if it's causing you breathing difficulties.

does it look like a white thing? Does it move or is it stationary?
Sometimes food gets stuck in your tonsils.
It looks whitish/yellow. Eventually it will work its way out of your tonsils. In the meantime it can be a little irritating.
Go ahead and google the word "tonsiliths" and see what you come up with.
If that is nothing like what you have I urge you to have your parents take you to the doctor. :)
