Do forklift drivers mostly stay on their forklifts most of the day.

Most places they are off and on all day long. We have forklifts in a shipyard but the people using them do other things when nothing needs loaded and they need to move things on to the forks. If you have long or odd loads you need to secure the load. Maybe in a place like a furniture warehouse store you would mostly do driving but are likely to get off to deal with paperwork between customer or help customers load and tie down loads.

Yes I can. When I worked in a factory I spent 5 years on a normal forklift and then 7 years driving a reach truck (the one with extendable forks) and I could have cut the top off a boiled egg with it, no kidding.
