I think of that Piper Alpha drilling platform in the North Sea and all those corpses drifting around that flaming oil rig. That was a tragedy that came from bad engineering and bad management. It always makes me think of where the next problem might be.

I immediately think of my 50 years in the Oil & Gas Industry (before I retired 7 years ago) and conjure up thoughts of how much I enjoyed it all. I have many real pictures of processing units I worked on and the visits to oil and gas well sites in the Sahara desert where I spent 30 years in the production and treatment of oil & gas, (200,000 barrels of crude oil per day and 550mmscf/d of Natural Gas, (including its Liquefaction at -165°C) to produce up to 120,000 barrels per day of LNG....It was not 'Open Sea' but 'Open Desert' (or Sand Sea)...I loved it and I miss it.

(Rich Z...I lost a couple of good friends in the Piper Alpha disaster in the North Sea...very traumatic).

I see in my head large oil platforms or basically man made islands in the model of the sea.
