Think of poking yourself with a needle after needle after needle after needle after needle. Thats what it feels like ive heard.

First off, a tattoo in any place will hurt. You're using a needle that is vibrating back and fourth to stab yourself many times a second in order to put permanent ink beneath your skin. Unfortunately pain is relative. I have three tat's and while they were not exactly pleasant I've never said "stop". Call me a sadist if you will.

What I will say is that the most painful places to get a tattoo are those places where the bones are closest to the skin. Places like the top of your foot or your shin bone and ribs can be rather painful. Again, my experience.

Lastly, unless you want to be targeted as a tramp do not get a tattoo on your lower back. That area of the body is dedicated as the "tramp stamp". Women who get tattoo's there are pathologically targeted as being "easy" or "sluts".

Personally, I like the outer thigh or the sides of the rib cage for women.

I don't have one on my lower back but my friend got one and she had to get up and walk around every few minutes because it hurt and it made her legs go numb. The needle hits the nerves around the spine which causes the leg numbness, She said it was worth it though. Is this your first tattoo? I have one on my lower shoulder and it hurt pretty bad but I would say the healing process is the worst you get dry and scabby and it will get a tight feeling unless you continue to put this type of lotion that they provide. But again it was worth it.

I've got three. One on my ankle, one on the top of my foot and another on my lower back where you are describing. The one on my back was by far twice as painful as the other two combined. I couldn't wait for the guy to finish because it was so bad. Everybody is different, so it may be fine for you. A few of my friends have one there and they all said it was the worst one they got. Even the guy who did my tat said that it is one of the most sensitive areas to get one. But you endure the pain for the final outcome which you love! I enjoy every one of mine. Good luck. It's a pain that you CAN stand, even at it's worst.

Getting a Tatoo is different for every individual...I have a tattoo on my lower middle back, a large one to, it took five hours to do. Its a Celtic knot with some intricate design. I personally really like how it feels to get tattooed. If you really crave the ink, the pain wont matter.

Getting a tattoo feels like an electric needle being drug across your skin. How much it hurts all depends on you and your pain threshold.

I am going to be getting a tattoo soon. And of course it's going to hurt sweetie. It's a hot needle poking the deepest layers of your skin over and over again. You know, it doesn't matter WHERE you get it. It's going to hurt either way.

If you can handle getting stung by a bee you can handle a tattoo. Some places do hurt more than other like on your lower back if they have to keep going over and over your spine.

Of course it does. A friend of mine does tatoos and can tell
you the most sensitive spots. Some aren't as bad but it's
a needle going in and out. Good Luck!

Yes, it hurts, but if you truly want a tattoo then pain should not be a problem. Don't think about the pain, think about the outcome :)
