Buddhist meditation can be used as a practical guide for mental health.
But it should be done with the proper guidance of an experienced meditation master (Buddhist monk/Buddhist master).

I thought that was what buddhism is? Its not so much a religion as a way of life and how you approach your life. You should read Siddhartha it will answer many of your questions, or give you more of an idea on how to approach you life. It will help with your mental health and give you alot of good advice for a better life. Good luck and may peace be with you.

I don't know about buddhism, either you are mentaly fit or not.

If you are facing some problems seeking advice from wise old men from the past may help you find peace within yourself. The best way to gain good self image and mental fitness is to keep your mind sharp, don't stop at buddhism, research other spiritual scriptures but remember to take things into context and relegion or faith should not instill fear in you but love for human kind for this is the message of the greatest of all prophets Jesus Christ. Peace

Any philosophy can be approached as a practical guide toward mental health. Of course, any philosophy can also destroy you. It's what you do with it that makes the difference.

Any religion can help. The path prescribed by any religion is of peace, love, goodwill except that some people wear dark glasses when reading the Book, and then when trying to understand whats in the Book they will mess their brains so that they screw up the message.

So if you are following your heart you are on the right path and may the force be with you !!

sure,
Budhism is the practice of being profoundly related to no thing
you can derive from the practice of discipline anything you desire
being comfortable with nothing is much more difficult than chanting a few hundred Japanese sayings and sitting still for hours on end
In fact,
I'd be so bold as to invuite you and your unhealthy minded friend to an introduction to Zen Practice at the Zen Center of LA every Sunday at 923 S. Normandie Ave.

I believe so. I have some Buddhist leanings and three statues of him. If you eliminate desire, you eliminate suffering. That is the main aspect of the "Four Nobel Truths". I also believe in reincarnation. Hell is not another place besides Earth, but simply being reincarnated into a worse life.
