i get these migrane headaches that are so bad that i throw up. And they usually last all day. I have had these ever since i was a kid and only seem to be more frequent as i get older. Does anyone know what causes this or can it be a tumor or what is it?

If you have suffered from them since you were a kid, it is likely not a tumor. They are probably more frequent because as an adult you have more stress in your life and are probably doing more things that would cause headaches. However, if you have any new symptoms you should see a neurologist for a real exam.

For 15 years I probably took Tylonal or Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours a day. I ended my migraines by eliminating preservatives, artificial colors and artificial flavors from my diet. Mostly, just switching brands. I started reading the ingredient label on my foods and learning what the fancy names for various chemicals are. This really works. I do NOT get migraines anymore! Go to WWW.FEINGOLD.ORG. They will send you a list of foods that do not contain these chemicals - again, mostly brand switching. Please look into it. I do not benefit in any way at all.

This is real. Make your next question about the Feingold Diet and see how many other people use it and love it.

First of all migraines suck. I myself have been getting them since I was 12, they went away for a few years when I was in my late teens early twenties but they are back worse than ever.
I have many tests run, I didn't have salt, I didn't have chocolate or any caffeine. I have very few food triggers. I know certain times of the month I am going to get a migraine( I am sure that is not an issue for you). Stress is a trigger.
I would defiantly talk to your DR and see what medicines are best for you, there are some really good ones out there these days. You may have to try a few different ones before you find ones that work, your DR should be able to give you some samples.
Your Dr may recommend this but you should keep a migraine journal, what you were doing when you got your headache, what you had been eating... it will help you to learn your triggers. Also make sure your DR is willing to help you, a friend recently told me her DR acts like she has no pain, I told her she should switch DRs.
Last time I was at the DR, she told me that there is no cure for migraines, just prevention... you need to do what is best for you and your prevention, there are even some pills you can take daily which will prevent you from getting as many.
Talk to your DR!!!!

Stress, lack of sleep, not eating, prolonged eye strain, pollution. There are a lot of causes or "triggers" for migraine. I too have had them since I was very young. I spent many a day in a darkened room with my arm pressing a pillow against my forehead. I have found that if I quickly take 4 extra strenght tylenol as soon as I feel one coming on, I can usually avoid most of them. Once it really arrives there isn't much you can do. I usually start feeling better after I throw up though.

Lately I have started having what they call "cluster" migraines. There is no pain with these, but my vision is impaired badly. It's like your looking through a prism or have multi faceted eyes. Kinda scary the first time this happened.

Go see a doctor to check for tumors, but you'll probably have them for the rest of your life. It SUCKS.

You need to have a diagnostic work up with a neurologist. I have always been a migraine sufferer and mine got worse with age as well. There are alot of new medications that can be taken as a preventive measure that are very effective. Once I found a medication I could take my migraines have been infrequent. I've probably only had 6 in the last two years whereas before I was having 4-6 per month.

The causes of Migraines are various. You should really see a doctor and get a diagnosis. There are prescriptions you can take to prevent these issues. I think Topamax is something you take every day to prevent migraines. But I have also heard of a much less known product called "Axert." Apparently Axert is something you can take when you first realize you are getting a migraine and it will make the migraine start to go away within a couple of hours. And, apparently, Axert has less side effects than the other prescriptions out there.

Good luck, I feel for you!

Well...I did know a girl that was always having these REALLY bad migranes and they took her to the hospital and she did have brain tumors she was only like 18 and she died a few months ago..

However, i work in a chiropractic office and sometimes there can be shifts in certain discs in your spine that causes really bad migranes. Good news is you can get that taken care of and you wont get migranes anymore..bad news is you might have to continue to get adjustments for a long time...

Deffinately do something, doctor, chiropractor, hospital...somethings not right.

I have had headaches fairly frequently for years. I am not entirely sure what the root cause is, but one key factor in triggering them is dehydration.

It has been very hot here the last few weeks and I work outside. I had a series of headaches... then I started to be very aggressive about preventing the slightest dehydration, and it has been successful so far.

I have really bad migraines too - several things can act a triggers for a migraine. I'm are too little sleep and hot dogs. A lot of people say that chocolate and red wine are big triggers for them. Try keeping a diary of what you eat each day for about a month along with sleeping habits and mark when you get migraines. This will help tell you what the triggers may be.

uhh i have migraines all the time.. but then i went to a doctor and got special medicine that really really helps ... the doctor said it couldve been due to sleep loss, too much sleep, eating habbits, strenuos sports, or stress.... check into those, and see your doctor about this... for it it was a tumor, which i highly doubt bc youve had these since you were little, the sooner you detect it the better... but the key to beating a migraine is to take medicine the second you feel that one is coming on, that always works for me.... best of luck...

well it's a complex question.
not drinking enough water and getting too hot (at night) are two big factors according to my research.
have you tried hydration, meditaiton and exercise?
i find that flow yoga will stop the headache - changes my brain waves. still i struggle cuz i can't do flow yoga at work. since i've learned to stay on top of the hydration factor, they have been a lot better. water is a big key.
