Pondering is thinking in quite. Babbling is just running off of the mouth with no real thinking involved.

The differences are (note the plural verb) in the definitions of the words and the actions they denote. To babble is the speak nonsense in an unbroken stream.

To ponder is to think deeply about a subject.

Babbling is saying things just because you believe it to be true. You haven't really searched for other options. You are basically a frog in the well.

Pondering- Sign of a great thinker. You think about having other possibilities. You think before you speak.
