The Bible says that all who seek will find Him, so when a person truly seeks Him, why doesn't He make Himself fully known?

Truly looking for answers.

But, why not here, now, when we are truly seeking and desperate for Him?

2007-08-10 15:23:00 · update #1

I follow and read His word daily as well. I am just asking why He doesn't sometimes show Himself more clearly?

Dear , I , too thought as you do now,,and it can be very confusing
maybe because you dont visable see him. Just think about it,you see him everyday. HIS CREATION, his anwers to prayers ,everything you look at was created by him.and the Bible does not lie, believe me,for example, when WEARE AT OUR LOWEST POINT,WHO DO WE TURN TO? I DON'T KNOW ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE,BUT I have been pretty low
in some pretty bad situations , AND NO ONE ELSE COULD HELP and he always made a way for me. HE DOES TALK WITH YOU, KEEP SEEKING AND YOU WILL FIND.
I AM WITH YOU TILL THE END OF THE EARTH ,I WILL BE WITH ALWAYS . KEEP PRAYING AND HAVING FAITH
.HE LEAVES US WITH A GIFT, THE HOLY SPIRIT,WHICH
IS OUR PROTECTOR, our counselor, .WHEN YOU HEAR THAT TINY VOICE SAYING SOMETHING TO YOU AND YOU KNOW ITS RIGHT AND NOT WRONG YOU KNOW THEN HE'S WITH YOU AND LEADING YOU .
IN JOHN 1 :18 NO MAN HAS SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME,THE ONLY BEGOTTON SON,WHICH IS IN THE BOSOM OF THE FATHER,HE HAS DECLARED HIM . GOD SEES US AS HIS CREATION , NO MATTER WHO WE ARE HE LOVES US,AND WE KNOW IT IS REAL BECAUSE IN CHRIST, IT TOUCHES US ALL.HE LOVES US UNCONDITIONAL.SOME THINGS ARE MEANT TO HAPPEN AND WE DON'T UNDERSTAND BUT HE DOES, IT'S ALL IN PERFECT TIMING AND IN HIS HANDS. HE KNOWS WHAT IS BEST IN EVERY SITUATION .WE WILL VISABLE SEE HIS FACE ONE DAY . FOR NOW, LOOK FOR HIM, HE'S THERE!

There are 2 types of people in the world. Those who believe everything is a miracle, and those who believe nothing is a miracle.

The former see god in everything and everyone. To those people, god IS showing himself in as concrete a way as you could possibly hope for.

To the latter. God could write messages across the sky in starlight sharing the secret wisdom you seek with everyone, and they would say that it was a fluke occurrence and that it doesn't really prove anything, since anyone could have written it and it was probably just a scam and a hoax.

This is a question about faith, and you can't get it through a conversation or as the answer to a question. If you are lucky, you will experience some great miracle in your life. A moment when you just KNOW that only god could have made the world the way it is, and that he did it for you. Then you see things differently. Until then, just try to remain open to the possibilities.

Hypothetically, say that you had a friend who did great things in your life for you, set you up with a cool job and was always there for you. Then one day you decided that this friend was not really the one who did any thing it was all you , even though it wasn't you it was the effort and love of your friends, then after you take the credit for your progress you then begin to doubt this person exists. When you took the credit from God you no longer needed him so he bounced. I think an apology is in order if you take all your friends credit and same goes for God. He is not a forceful and arrogant God. He doesn't change though our perception of him may change. All that would make your relationship God would be a simple I'm sorry and I know you were there making my life good. I hope this helped for you to seek out God.it is worth it

To think you will be able to fully know the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, God of the universe is an exercise in foolishness and futility. It's never going to happen. Your three-pound brain doesn't have the capacity to hold God fully. This is why faith can never be completely logical. Our logic is too limited. The Bible doesn't say that all who seek God will find Him. It says that we will find God when we seek Him with all our heart (Jeremiah 29:13, etc.). I've known people that have seen visions of angels and stuff like that when they sought after God. He may or may not do that for you. However, if you saw God's face, you would be killed. That's why God never showed Moses His face. God's face is too glorious for a human being to endure. Your best bet to find God though, is to read your Bible and pray and ask God to show you what it means. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you; really mean it; and then wait. Many times He reveals Himself by showing something in the Bible to be accurate in your daily life. There's a lot of different ways God reveals Himself. Good luck and God bless. You will find Him when you seek Him all your heart. It's true.

He uses messengers to contact people seeking him. Before it was angels, now it is human, although angels can protect you. God is a spirit so you can't see him. Maybe the person who is seeking God is looking in all the wrong places.

Talk to some Pentecostals, according to them, they see God and speak to him every Sunday! (Don't be offended, but I just had to say that.)

Just want to add John 1:18 No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten god who is in the bosom (position) with the Father is the one that has explained him. NWT

I believe God does show Himself to us in the ways you mention. Sometimes though, we just don't realize it's happening. There have been times I've been down in the dumps about whatever my stress of the week is - and I'll wake up to a beautiful day - just perfect weather. Some would say, oh it's just nice weather. But, what if it's something else? What if it's God saying, "...you know, I see what you're going through - and I'll help you fix it in time - but, until then, here's something beautiful I made with you in mind."

We all need cheering up sometimes. We all need to know others care about us. When the phone rings and it's a loved one saying they were just thinking about us, and just wanted us to know they love us - what is that, but God sending an audible message to us, via our friend or loved one, that He cares.

Scripture tells us that God's ways are not our ways, that His thoughts are not our thoughts. To me, that scripture is a clue that we sometimes have to look outside of our realm of thinking for God. What has always helped me is to seek Him not with my mind, or my logic, or my intellect, but with my heart and with my soul.

I believe the answers you seek are there, but you may just be looking in the wrong place for them. They may be right in front of you, but you're not seeing them. I believe though, that God honors a sincere heart, and, like everything else, will show you what you're seeking in His own time. In the meantime, just keep an open heart and you'll be fine.

Great question, hon.

He does but only to those who truly seek and that includes following His commandments. If you don't have love foremost in your mind and heart you cannot find Him and this is rarely the case with someone who is desperate and just looking for help. Percieving God is based on our ability to percieve as He is everywhere and in everything and as St. Paul wrote- we see "through a glass darkly" which means as sinners we see things as reflected through a dirty mirror.

This is a Rational-educated atheist's viewpoint.

By the way, I deny the Holy Spirit, My religion is humanity.
We atheist don’t claim that there wasn’t a man named Jesus, but we think he was a normal man with no “holy spirits” involved, Jesus wasn’t a bad guy that wanted to cheat people; he was in the same delusion that we are today.

OK, Jesus was a son of "virgin" Mary; Virgin Mary was in a good relationship with a carpenter named Joseph (for me he is the father of Jesus and not "holy spirits").

Jesus was born, John the Baptist baptized Jesus at the age of 12 and then Jesus worked 18 years as a carpenter, he was been brainwashed by some monks about gods, so he was in a delusion exactly like us that there is a god.

When Jesus was sentenced to death by roman leader, the roman leader asked him:” Make a miracle that I can believe that you are god “, Jesus replied: “Don’t test your god “, so he sentenced him to death.

While he was on the cross suffering, he thought that god was testing his faith, exactly like how we think when god doesnt answer our pure prayer like when we pray for feeding hungry people, so he said when he was dying: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing “(Luke 23:34), and when he came to death he said: “Father, I put my spirit into your hands!”(Luke 23:46).

This shows that he had schizophrenia and mental illness about that he is the son of god, then he died, everything about resurrection is a fairy tale.

I can’t explain all of this but I must say that I can’t comprehend how would the “son of god” saiy : “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29) , because I can’t believe that the same god who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.

I tell you the truth, if you talk to God, you are praying; if God talks to you, you have schizophrenia.

The bottom line is: Jesus doesn’t appear because he is dead.
Evolution is a fact, and peace is upon all.
Wake up.

It would be kinda nice if God just peeked through the clouds and said 'hey look at me, i'm here alright, so stop arguing about my existence.' But like the Bible says "blessed are those who do not see and who do not hear and yet still believe." "if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will move mountains". God wants those who will seek him other then visually or audibly. Thru prayer and supplication. Personnally, all I have to do is look at the world and it's too obvious that he created it. I encourage you to do everything on your end to seek God because he will be known to you.

come to him like a child, with an open mind and open, heart, really expect and beleive God wants to show you signs and wonders, God hasn't changed one bit he is still doing stuff that is in the bible today, and more if that, trust in his word, and just so you know, yes faith is the substance of the things unseen, but that doesn't mean you have to live your life without seeing any manifestation of Gods power and glory OK:) keep believing an pressing into God I'm doing the same and i Know he will follow trough. our prayers dont return void, PERSEVERE
