You'd be hard pressed to pick two more diametrically opposed vehicles. The CTS is a gas-hog of no better than average build quality. In 5 years it will be worth half of what a Prius of the same vintage is. The Prius is one of the best built cars on the road and one of the most economical as well.

In a heads-up drag race the CTS will win hands down. But that's about the only thing that it has going for it.

This is an odd comparison. Are you sure these are the two cars you want to narrow your decision to? They're quite different. List your priorities and figure out which vehicle most closely matches your needs.

The Prius has utility, reliability, low emissions, high fuel economy (~56mpg average on mine), quietness, and quality going for it. The Cadillac has the cachet of being a luxury car and could have more features than the Prius, but the Prius is no stripper as it comes very well equipped. The Cadillac will win a drag race, 0-60 in 7 seconds versus 10 seconds for the Prius.

Toyota hold there price value and the Prius has great gas mileage compared to the CTS. Toyota also have the least amount of problems. Cad, and American cars have problems with all sorts of things.

Yeah here is my opinion.
1.A Prius is a stupid experiment to appease the environmental wackos, and I die laughing every time I see some idiot driving one (as I blow his doors off).
2.Cadillacs are for old farts,Funeral directors and pimps.
