Believe me, he will be hyper, just more well mannered. Plus, you are cutting way down on the risk of him getting cancer. I promise you, you are doing the right and responsible thing.

He will be fine. It is very important that you get him fixed, because the longer you put it off, the more painful it will be for him. Trust me it will not take away all of his hyper activity, my neighbor was worried just like you. If anything it made him more hyper. Although her dog's is a Bichon Frise not a Jack Russel. They are both small dogs loaded with engery (at least from what it sounds like). However, like all living things they loose energy a little with time. To prevent this I would suggest buying him a friend when he is at least 5. The younger dog will make him feel alive again. At least this worked for my grandma. Her dog is 11 and she still acts like a puppy, because she got her a friend.

Jack Russells are hyper by nature and fixing him won't affect that. I have a beagle that has been fixed for 10 years and he's still a stereotypical beagle.
Please get your puppy fixed as soon as possible. It's better for his health and it's better for all of the dogs that are waiting for homes in shelters.

getting a dog fixed does not really calm them down. most with age calm. he'll still be a hyper puppy for some time. and the humping is a domanice thing...and should be stopped. he's saying he's the boss and not u.
the pluses out way the minus
he can't make more unwanted puppies...or want to take off after a female in heat as bad. so death by car goes down. as being lost and ending up in a shelter....his chances of cancer goes way down.
and ya know i can't think of a minus for getting a pet altered.

He'll still be very energetic after the surgery. Naturally, all dogs tend to get a little less energetic as they get older. Just like people though, some slow down around midle age, and some are still very active when very elderly. I know a 74 year old lady who could kick my 41 year old butt in gardening work! Each dog is as different as each person. Having him neutered will keep him from dying of testicular cancer and help prevent him form chasing after females which can result in him being lost or run over by a car. The surgery isn't dangerous. It's the most responsible thing you can do. Good luck!

This is normal for this breed to do this. But you can get it fixed and I PROMISE he will still be hyper. It will be alot better for him and you wont have to worry about him humping you and company. My friend got her Jack Russell fixed and she is still VERY hyper. Hope this helped you!

I even have 3 jack russels and that they do the comparable ingredient. The male that we spade is lots extra useful he used to run away and now that has stopped however the different 2 do in comparison to being outdoors without somebody there and that they'd desire to be waiting to make certain you. They love chasing something that strikes. i think of it purely comes with the breed of animal. Sorry yet your no longer gonna replace them. that's what makes a jack russell a jack russell

First off he isn't broken.
And getting him neutered won't make him lazy. What makes pets lazy is people over feeding their dog and not giving them exercise. Yes the drive is down because they aren't driven to go miles and miles to hump. If you continue to care for your dog by feeding him right and playing with him he will stay just as hyper.

Don't worry about it....it's safe, they live longer (or so they say..), and even if he's not as hyper in 4 years, he'll still be a hyper puppy. Trust me, you'll get tired of him being a hyper JR soon enough...
oh, and if he's a humper, then he's a humper...getting them fixed doesn't take that away. it's not as often, but it's still something they're gonna do...

lol I have never seen a jack russell fixed or not that wasn't a complete spazz. He might be a little lethargic while he heals up from surgery but getting him neutered will not stop him from being a happy, full of energy pup.
