I started taking Depakote a month ago with no side effects (500 mg daily). Last night I drank 4-5 beers while on the meds for the first time and my stool this morning was very soft, very pale, and had the consistency of ground peanuts. (sorry for the description) Should I be concerned now or should I wait a few days to see if it goes back to normal without drinking and remaining on the meds? I'm fine otherwise, no nausea, fever, stomach discomfort, jaundice, etc... but it did concern me.

It is never good to drink while taking any meds.
Depakote works with the brain as well as beer alters the brain functions, not a good mix. U might be trying to supress one thing with the depakote while the beer will make it worse.
talk with your neurologist or dr. about drinking while on depakote.

It is a very bad idea to drink alcohol while taking Depakote. Small doses of alcohol may not be a problem. However, your intake was on the level of getting drunk beyond a mild buzz or relaxation.

Alcohol in large amounts can either cancel out the Depakote or distort its effectiveness with side effects.

You will certainly gain weight if you drink beer while taking Depakote.
