Jazzy its really nice that you have a new puppy. Pit bulls treated kindly from early life become great gentle pets however there is something to watch for.
There are (expletive deleted to be polite) non human male offspring of the devil and his mother that fight dogs for sport. These vermin steal young pit bulls and teach them to fight. They are usually of non human origin and should be exterminated but the liberal politicians and judiciary consider them human so what can we do.
Watch your puppy carefully. If he is stolen even if you get him back he will be ruined for life. Also males should be neutered to lessen aggression. Actually I mean the dog as I would not waist the effort on the humanoid vermin.

any dog breed will live a long healthy life up to 14 yrs if you are a good owner and friend to your pet.I have a pit bull named Buddy and he is 15.He might have cataracts and only 3 legs due to a bad car accident but he is a wonderful old dog and loves my family. You just have to treat him well and give him lots of TLC and remember that puppies need discipline.

Well dogs live different amounts - depending on the breed. But the life span for a pitt is about 12-14 years (on average) so long as you take care of him - feed him good food (not that crap from the grocery store) and keep him healthy. :)
Congratulations on your new doggie!

My dog has been living for 14 years. She had a stroke recently but now she is back to normal. She still runs around a lot and is still very active.

Great - he can live for 12 years or more, so take the money you saved by getting him for free and have him vaccinated and neutered.
A dog this powerful also needs obedience training, Petco gives classes - it's fun for you and your dog - why not enroll???
