My son is going off to school for the first time too! Where was I when he decided to grow up so fast?!? I'm sure you are feeling the same. Just don't cry on the first day; you want her to feel like she is going off to do something fun. Good luck! Being a mom is great, isn't it?

I have a daughter going to kindergarten in 3 weeks. I am soo down about it. She does not seem to mind it, but I can' t help but be depressed. She is going to be 6 in October and I am feeling that she is growing up too fast.
Last year she went to preschool and I remember crying a month before she went.
I guess all mothers feel the same.

I would say the first couple of weeks was hard for me. Especially if my son cried. I admit to calling and checking on him several times a day and driving by to catch him in the play grown. The days can seem long but the years go by so very fast. Wish I could tell you an easy way to get through it but I had a lot of tears and felt like I didn't know what to do with my self the 4 hours he was gone

Yes, my daughter loves it says bye mum!
Am so proud of her! She's doing 3yo kindergarten this year!

Whereas my son it was hard with him being the first he use to kick and scream didn't want to stay at 4yo preschool, as hard as it was to walk away I had to, now it has made a huge difference, now his in grade 1 at school loves it, but I really miss him. And as everyone has told me thats part of life.

I think its great that your daughter is excited it will make it easier for you, you will have some time to yourself and you wont know what to do!
But I think it helps them gain a lot of independence.

yes, it is totally normal, too. Your baby is growing up. I am a Resource Specialist at an Elementary School. Seeing the Kindergarten parents all just waiting around and many in tears on the first day is normal. Most of the kids do just fine. You may shed some tears, but it sounds like she will be fine.

My son is about to turn 5 and start kindergarten. He's excited too! I'll be sad, but he is turning into such a big boy. I'd have to say I'm more proud of him than I am sad to let him go. I'll probably cry the first day though!

oh of course. i was soooooo upset when my daughter started school last year. she had never gone to school or daycare so i was worried about how she would adjust. i cried but she didnt. i think its natural to have a hard time letting go. i mean they're our babies. no matter how hard i tried to be strong and prepare myself and act like i was ready, i still cried on the first day. i wasnt prepared at all. i stayed out of work for a week

I was a mess when my youngest started school. I tried to be brave when he boarded the bus but I cried so hard. Then I followed the bus to school and went in to make sure he got to class all day and he was braver than I was. He just looked at me and said "Mom it's ok. They have to let me come back don't they?" That made me cry and my poor husband had to make me go back home.

From what I understand, get used to it.

My son starts kindergarten in a few weeks. I've already cried over it. I can't imagine what it will be like when he actually has his first day.

My son begins pre-k in a week, too. I've asked my husband to take the day off so we can both take him to school, and in case I fall apart Daddy can take over. I'm crying just typing about it. Did our moms go through this, too?
