More innocent people have died in Iraq than enemy fighters. Innocent people are put to death. Sometimes abortion is necessary to save a mother's life. If abortion was banned, innocent mothers would die.

By the way, I am adopted, and am against abortion by choice. Also, I am anti-war, and anti-death penalty. We should live according to our moral values, and not kill. No one, including governments, has the right to take someone's life. I am more pro life than most of the people that have answered my question. Of course we need to defend this country, but there are other ways we can fight extremism other than with violence. Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Jesus, and countless other role models have proven that the best way to have peace is by being peaceful and persistent. You don't win hearts and minds of others by torture, killing, and destroying human rights.

I don't believe in abortion. I do not feel that I have the right to make that choice for someone else. If changing the law would stop abortion, I would be all for it but it wouldn't, Abortion has been with all races for centuries.
I am against the death penalty in most cases, I do believe that there are some that should not be allowed to take another breath, their lives have been a terror to others, there is no reason for them to continue living at my expense.
War is a different matter, you either fight or die, I would rather fight. If you are posting about Iraq, that is a different matter, this is an unjust action that is killing our youth for no reason & taking the lives of innocent Iraqi people unjustly.

Pro life means that you are trying to protect life. If you are attacked, sometimes you have to take a life in order to protect your own, or the lives of others. That's why policemen carry firearms.

A just war is a war on defense. If a nation is not attacked, war is not justified. You can read up on "just war" by doing a Google search.

The reason pro life people can be for the death penalty is again to protect life. If the law says that if you murder, you will forfeit your own life, it is a deterrent. Of course, it is only a deterrent when it is actually used. When a person murders and gets seven to fifteen years, the fact that there is a death penalty on the books doesn't do much for deterring other murders.

The idea of the death penalty was pretty effective for organized crime. Criminals knew that if they opened their mouths, they would be killed.

i want to say that i am definitely FOR the death penalty where the case is extreme. i live in Florida and a couple of years ago this pedophile kidnapped a little girl, did awful things to her then buried her alive. would you recommend he be set free or held in prison for a few years? he was recently sentenced to the death penalty which was too good for him. sentence should have been carried out as soon as he was found guilty and the same thing he did to the girl should have been done to him!!!!!!!! that would have been JUSTICE. all you do-gooders who preach against the death penalty make me sick. if the little girl had been your daughter, sister, niece or cousin how would you feel?

None of us would have our freedoms, and our little computers to sit here at Yahoo Answers and express ourselves, if it wasn't for our brave Soldiers who went to war and fought their guts out and got their heads blown off. Just so we all could sit back and enjoy going to the grocery store and buy cheap awesome food, go to the movies, pick and choose what college we want to go to. On and on I can go. I get sick when I hear some whining idiot who enjoys all of our wonderful freedoms and then b*tches about how horrible war is. DEAL WITH IT! Maybe YOU should be in the trenches with a rifle in your hand with bullets flying over your head. The entire free world enjoys what they have because of the USA and what we have done. If we didn't drop those atomic bombs on Japan, millions of innocent people would have died, and maybe Japan would have won that section of that war. You DO NOT even want to know how horrible your life would have been if that happened. But wait, let me guess... you know NOTHING about history and how ruthless the Japanese were when they occupied a country. I could go on and on and on. But it probably wouldn't matter. I WISH that peace would rule the world. But I am a realist, not some blind idealist idiot.

Freedom Is Not Free

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze;
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform,
So young, so tall, so proud;
With hair cut square and eyes alert,
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought ... how many men like him
Had fallen through the years?
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilot's planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers graves?
No ... Freedom is not Free.

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still;
I listened to the bugler play,
And felt a sudden chill;
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend;
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands ...
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea,
Of unmarked graves in Arlington ...
No ... Freedom is not Free!

As far as abortion is concerned. Just read this poem:

Choose Me

My rotting body in my grave, proves
Rigor mortis of your spirit!
I want to claim that it is dark in here, but,
I do not remember the light to compare it with.
I watched and helplessly pled silently,
Wondering how is it that people,
Get away with murder all the time!

I wish you were here to brush these worms.
And wipe the mud from my soiled face
Caused by the dripped rain in here.
Tell me for what crime was I punished?
Why such harsh sentence on me?
You are obsessed with things that deny reason!
Why did you choose to kill me?

Instead of pushing a baby carriage,
You’d rather adventure walking your favorite dog!!
My decomposing brain has the right to ask:
‘Why was I not allowed to be born’?
I wish you were pro-life
And not pro-death!
You could have given me for adoption!

You took away my right to live.
Is your world really better without me?
I wonder if you even gave me a name!
Or am I more null and void
Than the cancelled checks that you do keep!

How can anyone that espouses pro choice think abortion is ok but wont sentence murderers to death.?

A grown man chooses to become a soldier and a bad man chooses to become a murderer. An innocent baby deserves the right to live and make decisions too.

Because the cold hard truth is that sometimes in order to preserve life, you must kill off a few psychos who have no regard whatsoever for life. Death penalty, well, that's not really neccesary. Often deserved, seldom justified.

When you bomb civilians you give up your right to live, something no fetus has ever done.

As most of us know already people will jump on the cause of the moment bandwagon only if it suits their needs. True pro-life is a difficult and tricky question. They seem to forget that one cause is the same just different wording.

Quite easily:

"Pro-Life" refers to a specific issue: abortion. It does not refer to war or death penalty issues.

Those are: Pro-war, and Pro-death penalty.
