Ghosts aks spirits, are merely the souls of those who have passed over. And you are in spirit as you are in life, just no physical body. And yes, you can choose to come back and visit family, you have free will over there as well. Spirits are all around us... just most peole don't have the capabilities to see or experience them. And the spirits we here about, in hauntings and whatnot, you notice are in towns and cities where huge tragedies have occurred--aka lost, unhappy souls who need and are seeking but recieving resolution.
But yeah, they really are still there. Got a grandpa on the other side that you miss a lot? Or a parent or a sibling? Talk, they can hear you, and chances are good, if you had a good relationship with them, they'll come to check up on you every now and then.

I believe in reincarnation. After you have learned all the lessons on earth, you will finally reach a state of enlightenment, and then go to the afterlife. That state is nirvana, and only the most pious get there. I just like the idea that you have to be really really good to get into heaven, so that way I know only good people are in heaven. I have a problem with the thought that if you say you follow a religion you get into heaven. For instance, do you know how many people on death row are devout christians? I respect people's rights to a religion, but maybe one that requires a little more work.

From some personal experience; I would say that there is an afterlife. It isn't as glamorous as some religious people make it out to be. Remember when you were a little kid and had that certain energy that made you want to jump up and down and run around? It's like that. I suppose there might be another place that people can go when they're spirits like to another world etc. But, as far as I know there's much more to death and another way of life.

I believe what I want to believe, but doesn't everybody? I can't believe that a human being is just gone once they die; I therefore believe that the soul must live on in some way. Clearly, I like to believe in the unexplainable, and I think that it is more than probable that the dead we still love can stay with us, because of our own need and theirs. However, since it seems to me they don't obviously reveal themselves (which is why these sorts of beliefs require faith), we should keep in mind that we live in this world. They have left their physical bodies and are therefore separated from this world in an apparently critical way. What is most important to those of us who remain in this world is how we remember and honor those who have left it, until we leave it ourselves into that great unknown adventure. And I do hope it's an adventure.

After death we will be exactly what we were before birth. The fear of the natural end has caused the invention of gods, reincarnation, and all the other religious superstitions.
We come, grow up, reproduce, grow old, die. We're the same as all other living things here on this earth. It's natural, it's sensable, it's understandable, it's believable.

Well, it all depends on your religion really. I am Christian, so i believe that there is an afterlife and I have been told by religious teachers that you will live again but not in the same world. You will look different than you do now and you will get to see the people that you love. Because of this I am very proud to be Christian and to love God. I hope I answered you question okay.

Yes, there is definitely an afterlife. My father had a near-death experience while in a coma after having a stroke about two and a half years ago, and although he wasn't permitted to remember everything about it, he did remember seeing his aunt (my great-aunt) after she had already died, and to him she looked about 35 or so, in the prime of life. I met another family in southern Utah once, and the daughter, who is in her mid-twenties, told her mom she saw her grandparents' spirits visit their home about once or twice a week on the average. This is a rare gift, in my opinion. I believe that there are buildings and universities and classrooms and houses in the spirit world, just like we have here, only larger and cleaner. We have the freedom to learn and continue to develop our talents there. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I believe we were spirits before we came to earth, and we received a physical body when we were born that we are separated from, temporarily, when we die. But thanks to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we will all be resurrected someday, with our bodies in perfect form, never to die again.
Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

Yes... everyone will go on to the next life... what exactly is the fate of the majority?... that is debateable on some points... But God has granted every one The Way To come to Him as He prescribes... those who do so will spend eternity with Him... the rest will be seperated from him... and the facts of all of that are debated even by those of us who know we are assured to enter Heaven with God...no mortal knows the full facts....
those who leave this mortal world DO NOT come back for visits... nor do any hang around "haunting" and such...when this mortal life is done the next is a One Way trip.
There is NO communication with those who have "gone On"
What are seen as "ghosts" are in fact evil spirits who can mimic the departed... the forces of evil know all about every one and can make themselves apear as any one they want... thay can even look like your dear departed grandpa and they can, if they want to, tell you exactly where he hid the family jewels... but it AINT grandpa....

As a Christian, I believe that there is a heaven and a hell. If a person accepts that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and came to earth to die for sins for all mankind, heaven is home. If not, then hell is the destination. There is a lot to say, more than I can say now, but that is the basics.

As an atheist, I don't believe in the afterlife, or ghost or anything of that sort. Unfortunately, nobody can comeback from the dead, or has comeback to let us know. My guess is that once you die, it is game over.
