Adam g and others have it all wrong. when the bible says that God created them, man and woman the man and woman He refers to is the races of man and woman that were created before Adam and eve. These races were created on the sixth day. Adam and eve were created on the eighth day. Lilith was obviously of the sixth day creation. And was said to be a ravager of pregnant women and scarer of children , kinda ogre like. Now if Cain hooked up with her i would consider that poetic justice.

In the Talmud, Jewish folklore has Lilith as Adam's first wife.
She refused to be subject to him, and was banished from the Garden of Eden. Eve was her alleged replacement.
Lilith is an unblbical character.
But you will find a vague reference to Lilith in Isaiah 34:14 where "screech owl" is translated from the Hebrew "Liyliyth."
There, the screech owl finds rest in a dessert place with other beastly spirits.
She is otherwise considered a demon spirit.
If we were in Ireland, we would refer to her as a banshee.
The character certainly lived up to her namesake on "Fraser."

According to the Jewish religion, she was Adam's first wife, before Eve.
Story goes, she refused to submit to Adam and lay beneath him during sex, and she was kicked out of the Garden of Eden to go live in the mountains. Legend has it that when Cain was kicked out of the Garden for killing Abel, he hooked up with Lillith and they had thousands of little demon children...and it's those evil spirits that are responsible for poltergeists and demon possessions and what not....
That's just how I understand it.
If you read the Bible, there are 2 stories of the creation of woman...the 1st one is said to be in regards to Lillith.
Genesis 1:27 says...
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
This is the reference to Lillith
Later on in Genesis 2:2 it says...
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
This is the reference to Eve.
The rest is up to you to decide.

see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith
Edit:
The Hebrew word 'Lilith' does occur once in the scriptures, in Isaiah 34:14, but it is translated "screech owl" in most versions.

adam's first wife but she wanted to be on top during sex so they kicked her out for eve, who was more submissive.
I imagine lilith was like, dark hair and wild eyes while eve was blonde and blue eyed.
