Keeping people suffering and living a little longer makes the drug industry and others massive profits, as someone pointed out in a previous answer. Is that a good reason for depriving euthanasia to Americans, while some other countries show their compassion for those who are suffering?

I never thought about it like that. I think its mostly because Americans are too busy policing themselves, each other, and everyone else. Its ridiculous.

I'm sure that those in the medical industry see huge profits by depriving euthanasia to Americans, but it in cases for people wanting to make money off of people doesn't mean that otherwise it would be right or wrong or whatever.

Now let me give you an example of where this can go terribly wrong. Many people who have disabilities have a guardian. People who are capable of taking, having friends, laughing, ect. However their family has little to do with them for whatever reason. Or maybe they are extremely annoying as some people can be. So why would you make it a law were the guardians and doctors can decide that this person needs to be euthanized because they suddenly get a case of pneumonia (because they weren't supposed to live this long anyways and it won't be long before they go anyways) Some doctors say that pneumonia is the elderly and disabled person's best friend. Right now there are tons of doctors who don't even take the disabled seriously. I see this going extremely in a bad direction. At some point it isn't going to be the individaul making the decison but the guardians.

Money can't be the main thing outlawing euthanasia because I know someone would be able to capitalize on euthanasia--have packages guaranteeing the kind of euthanasia you want, places that offer different decor for you to die in, etc. There would be a huge industry for that. Most doctors do not want to have to be the one to kill people--most folks go into the medical profession to save lives. And doctors already have huge malpractice suits and insurance bills--doctors who would perform euthanasia would want legal safeguards in place to protect them. Family members do not all agree on how or when or why things should happen and doctors (and their support staff) do not want to get inbetween fighting family members. Even in my own family where we all believe in euthanasia, I know my sister is going to hold out to keep our mom alive as long as possible, it's going to be "but she still has days when she seems to be ok" because my sister has never ever been able to put sickly pet to sleep even though the animal is obviously dying slowly and painfully and it not happy (one of her dogs literally starved to death because it's cancer had spread into it's mouth and throat). It's not a simple issue.

I believe it is because we here in the U.S. do not want folks out there playing God. People need to make out a living will while they are still able to make sound decisions for themselves. Euthanasia can potentially be abused.
