I doubt it. Neither political party is going to want to take the rap for bringing back the draft. Right now I hear they're paying huge bonuses to get kids to enlist. I'm all for that. Why not give the guys who are defending us big bucks? The political parasites who got us into this mess are sure making a pile! Why not let "we the people" get in on the gravy?

I truly hope so. The draft is what made this country great. Look at it this way because I can see peoples eyes rolling. All the troops came back from world war 2, the economy was changing from wartime to peacetime so there were no jobs, so with nothing else to do the ambitious ones cashed in their GI bills went to school and made America what it is. Plus, it would show a lot of the lost souls out there a different path and give them some sense of self worth. If they don't like it...get out when your time is up, if you do stay. Simple. you can't tell me that anything you're doing at the age of 18 can't be put off a few years.

I just finished my active duty time in the Navy. Right now, you have to do 8 years total service. I did 6, so I have two years inactive reserve time. Inactive reserve is called up when they have exhausted the active duty and reserve units because they are already trained. The likeness of calling inactive reserve is pretty low right now, but they call us before they reinstate the draft. The draft will never happen because that would pull all the politicians sons and daughters out of college (if under 34 years old) to serve in the military.

I'm already in the military so I don't care, but I highly doubt it will happen. I don't think congress would pass the bill to bring back the draft right now.

I hope not, but then one never knows. What scares me about that is that they will want to draft women. Some girls just are military material as some guys aren't. I hate to think of a draft, so lets hope it never comes to that.

I don't think it is politically viable since we are in a continuous election cycle. We already gives enlistment bonuses as high as $40,000. We are considering giving $45,000 towards home and business loans after 4 years service. We are spending loads on advertising for recruitment. We are incresing combat tour lengths and reducing 'recharge' time. I don't predict a draft.

Insted of drafting we should legalize all the immigrants and setup a plan so that they would have to serve inorder to live legally in this country. That would take care of all the problems.

All I can say is right now....I wouldn't offer my life up for this government. There has to be something to fight for....right now...it's nothing. They draft when they can't find volunteers.
