That is true. Only God makes you born again. You can go into the water a dry sinner and come out a wet sinner.

The Bible says you must be baptized with Water & the Spirit.
In the early Church, these were 3 distinct actions:
First you were catechized (taught & instructed) into the faith.
Then you received baptism by immersion into flowing water.
When you emerged from the water, you were anointed.
Then hands were laid upon you for the release of the Spirit.
That was often indicated by the gift of speaking in tongues,
or some other manifestation of charismatic gifts.
This whole process of initiation made you 'born again'.
Over time these were separated into individual rites:
Catechesis, Baptism, Confirmation, & Release of the Spirit.
The Catholic Church is now restoring the original process.

Water baptism is a symbolic and it is a spiritual event that happens within the seeker, but like the pharisaic who subjected the scriptures to their ignorant carnal pursuits, Christians made a whole ritualistic/tradition of man out of baptism which has nothing to do with its original nature which was purely spiritual and supposed to be understood by applying the key of knowledge, which the pharisaic in mindset rejects.
As for the term BORN AGAIN, no they aren't born again through some ritual or tradition of man, nor are they born again with some lip service of a mans name. Being born again in concept has to do with manifesting the inner kingdom within yourself, being born into the kingdom while you are still alive. The resurrection is being born again, as you are suppose to receive this resurrection while you are still alive. Being born has to do with this quote and concept that was removed from scripture and has to do with the birth of mind, becoming purified by spirit (through living a consecrated lifestyle) putting on the anointed mind or tree of life that is the complete mind...
“Let us expect, therefore, hour by hour, the kingdom of God in love and righteousness, since we know not the day of the appearing of God. For the Lord Himself, being asked by one when His kingdom would come, replied, 'When two shall be one, that which is without as that which is within, and the male with the female, neither male nor female’”.

I agree...You become saved, when you are of 'age' and you choose Jesus over all over religions. and i dont literally mean a certain age...the age is different for everyone...but if a baby is baptized, that doesnt necessarily mean they are saved, that baby still has a dead spirit..and is not living in Jesus Christ, because they havent come of 'age' to actually get the chance to think about God..and meet Him, and then choose to follow or not. I'm 13 and have not been baptized...but I didnt come of age until I was 11. so I am going to get baptized. i totally agree with you.

Baptism makes you a disciple, when it is performed in conjunction with the preaching of the Word. This is very clearly spelled out in the Great Commission:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
-- Matthew 28:19-20
It says nothing about inviting people to ask Jesus into their heart.

agree! being born in the spirit is what makes you a born again Christian-although once i was born again, i knew that i needed to follow Christ's example and be publicly baptized-it was a profession to all the world that i was part of Christ's church, and it was also my way of uniting with the members of my local congregation

Baptism is a public declaration of your belief in the LORD. If we could be baptised, why wouldn't we? As soon as I discovered GOD's truth, I did not hesitate to get baptised.

No being baptized does NOT make you a born again christian...Excepting Jesus Christ as your one and only Lord and Savior is the ONLY way to get into heaven! Being baptized is an outward expression of your faith.
I hope that helps.
God bless!

Agree. Persons professing Christ were immersed in water as a public confession of their faith in Jesus the Savior. It was an explicit mandate of the Lord (Matt. 28:16-20).
Baptism in and of itself does not bring salvation.
