Here's the deal: my friend doesn't eat healthily. We hang out a lot, and he usually only eats a small meal a day (if even that much.) He's had this lifestyle for months... so how is he not dead?

He takes Vitamin B, Vitamin C, and some sort of multivitamin. Also, it's not uncommon for him to sometimes eat salt to keep up his blood pressure. He's also muscular everywhere, but he doesn't go to a gym or anything.

Can someone explain how this is possible? Is that really a safe alternative to not eating? What could go wrong?

there are a million things that could go wrong. with out a doubt he has several nutrient deficiencies. most nutrient deficiencies are very hard to detect. also being muscular is not a direct indicator of the health status only of the bodies current ability to metabolize nutrients efficiently. he definetly has some sort of eating disorder. it will catch up to him eventually, it always does.

It will catch up with him in time. He's young and his body is compensating for the abuse he gives it. Just your phrase, "he eats salt sometimes to keep his blood pressure up" shows that he doesn't know what he's doing. Is he taking steroids? Or drinking a lot? Or on drugs?

This lifestyle will get to him eventually. Just hope it's sooner rather than later.
