Sweetie, all those fables of "royalty" is pure dookie. I, too, am also native and as a whole, we did not have princesses or kings and queens. The tribe was led by an elder, a wise man and medicine man. In 99% of all tribes that I know of, they were elected and they could be pretty much fired from that position if the tribe saw that they did not have the best interest of the entire group. Oh and they were not always men either! Women had a very prominent role in the tribe. They had equality way before all this women's lib started!

I have a friend that is the national spokeswoman for the native americans and said that you should first read, read and read as much as you can. Read and learn from the elders. All the traditions are just wonderful. It is a simple and rich lifestyle. I hope you enjoy all of our ways and intergrate them in your everyday life.

Oh and if your grandmother was pure bred, then your father is a half breed which makes you 1/4th native.

OOPS!!! I do apologize. I reread the part of your mother having royalty not your father. Sorry. It's just that so many people come to me saying how their ancestors were of princesses of this tribe or that and it gets me upset when they say things and have no idea how things really were.
