Please wait until you meet your new buddy and then a name will come to you based on its personality, coloring, size, gender or just the emotions you feel getting to know him. Dogs respond best to names with a Y or A at the end and you'll see the beauty in this when you call her. I think it is fabulous that you are taking in a rescued dog and hope you will remember to be gently and kind as she may be a bit traumatized from her experiences. Good luck!

I named my boy dog Chance (after the dog on Homeward Bound that was voiced by Michael J. Fox - I don't know why but when I saw him in the cage at the pound a scene from that movie popped into my head).

One of my girl dogs is a Shepard mix. I named her Dixie because "You don't mess with Dixie".

You may want to meet your dog first. Sometimes the name just pops in your head when you see the dog or get to know his personality.

Whippets are used for racing type sports - do you have a favorite NA SCAR driver?

I was always fond of the name Koga or Kouga as I spelled it. I got it from a show I watch. It was the name of a wolf demon and the type of dog I had that I named this was known for killing wolves. There's also Inu which is japanese for dog as far as I know. Or you could be funny and name it after a family member that would get a laugh out of that. Or if it's a dog that acts hyper or something you could name it Speedy or something like that. I always thought a good idea would be naming the dog after their interests, like favorite activity or type of toy or something like that.

The best thing to do I think, is to wait until you get your dog, and then name it. Choose a name that best fits it.. For instance his mannerisms, or the way it looks something like that. Our dog was is named Lucky simply because its lucky to be alive. It was found abandoned when it was just a pup ans practicallt starving, he's a totally deaf pit bull, but the most loveable pet you could imagine.

Well depending on what colour it is, then there are many names out there. If I had a light brown dog I would name is toast. If it was black, I'd name is Burnt Toast or BT.
Other names:

~Ezra

~Liola

~Dingo (type of austrailian dog - but It would make a good name!)

~Ziggy

~Kioni (Pronunciation: kee oh knee)

~Shasha

~Lammy

~Herbert

~Mogul
