Yes - it is wonderful. It can work - but it won't overcome other problems that any other relationship would also have.
It's a great basis to start a relationship - and can be a strong common bond to hold you together through the rough times.

Wow, obviously some of these people that answered this question have never had that happen to them. I, however, have had that happen to me. It was amazing!
Sure falling in "lust" with someone is more common...just look at the divorce rate. Over 50%! But when you fall in "love" with someone, it's different. You just know. And unless you have felt that before...you won't understand where I am coming from. Sure, I have too fell to the powers of "lust at first sight" but when you really fall in love...when you can't explain how you feel...that is the best!
When I met the love of my life...I knew from the first second I laid eyes on her...and she felt the same way. I was getting out of a swimming pool and she was standing there. I don't know what the chances were that we met...or what luck or fate had to do with it, but it was special. I looked into her eyes and just knew she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I had never felt that way about anyone else before. I love her so much and I would do absolutely anything for her! She means more to me than anything! Oh yeah, and we have known each other/been together for more than 4 years! Not married yet...will be someday!

I don´t believe in love at first sight, you can be really attracted to someone at first sight, but love is something that is developed after getting to know the person better, after sharing time together, and after knowing all the good and bad stuff about someone and still loving that person.

There are many cases of people immediately feeling a connection to someone on first sight. Does it work, probably not most of the time.

dont know about love at first sight - but if I cant feel a connection I dont bother - theres nothing in it.
I followed a sense of connection across a dance floor adn found when I looked at the person it seemed to be attached to they looked right back like they were expecting me. but that was a no go in the end.
and no I dont do drugs, save for alcohol, and ibuprofen the next day

I never got with any of the guys I 'loved' at first sight. Maybe cos they were all attatched already. Bummer.
The guys I got with I didn't think much of at first sight, and it didn't work.
So maybe if I got with one of the others, it would...

Yes, I fell absolutely head over heels in love with my wife the very first time I saw her, I knew that I was going to marry her. I couldn't get her out of my head even though I hadn't even talked to her. I was very lucky because when the time came that we met face to face I was very happy to see she was very intelligent and perfect in every way.
