My friend got married recently but I've never met her new husband. She told me his name, but I honestly can't remember? Is that rude? Is it something that might offend my friend?

I don't think it is rude, but it is an indicator of the depth of the relationship. If you don't know her husband's name, chances are that the relationship is still rather superficial or new. Be on the lookout when she's visiting with you, generally someone's name is dropped. Or you could look up her name in the phone book and see if his name is listed, too. Or, and this is probably easiest and most straight forward, just say, "What was your husband's name again?" She'll probably not even think anything of it. I wouldn't.

LOL!! O my gosh that's hilarious. Anyways, here's a solution

This always works for me. Since he's your friend's husband, you may only have a meer acquatance but have a relationship close enough to be on a first name basis. So, let's say your friends last name is Richards. Call him Mr. Richards and he'll be like "Please, call me Jerry" or whatever his name is.

But in all honesty I think it would be funnier if you just didn't know his name for the rest of both your lives, lOl

It is not rude to forget the name of someone you have never met. But if you are not that close a friend with her....Just wait for her to say his name again so that she doesn;t know you forgot.

No, if you haven't met him then there's an obvious reason why you don't know him at all. There's nothing wrong with that. If you're going to ask, ask in a nice way or ask how you spell your husbands name.

No, it's not. You can probably just ask her. It's not always easy to remember the name of someone you've never met and was only mentioned once.

Just tell her you forgot his name...no big deal..people do it all the time. After all, you haven't met him yet,,once you do, I am sure you will remember..it is definitely not rude..

If you are really colse with your friend, maybe a little, but if you two are aquainteces, then probablably not. I f yuo want to find out, act like your making a list and they are on the list, then ask them how to spell it

If she is your friend you should and to my opinion it sounds very rude not to know his name. Is this just a "light" friend? If you really value her friendship ask around for his name.
