Thanks for the help. At this time we have removed the throttle body cable and it is bad. I have a 35 year mechanic for a father but was unable to get him to look at it dew to it being a dodge avenger. He is attempting to replace the cable as we speak, and also hinting i should get rid of it. There are alot of major things wrong w/ it including stalling and slipping which at this time im hoping to be the idle air control and crank shift. Wish me luck and please any advice will help. THANKS

Sounds like you had an electrical short. Smoke escaping from wires is never a good thing. It could have melted or welded the throttle cable if it rubbed through a wire harness.

Regardless, this is a major problem that may require extensive repairs. Tow it to a reputable dealer or shop.

It might not be a bad idea to consider trading it as it is and be rid of it. You can decide that when you receive an estimate for repairs.

Pick up your phone and call a tow truck, then have it delivered to a mechanic of your choosing.
