You are correct. Dragon Naturally Speaking is designed for one trained speaker - not an audio file of someone speaking and not dictating. It can sort of be done but you need very high quality audio and a very very clear speaker. I did it with Australia's Prime Minister and the accuracy was decent. But for your application - no technology currently exists. There's been a lot of improvements over the last 5 years and I'm expected it will be achievable within 2 years. What you can do is "shadow" the recorded speaker with Dragon Naturally Speaking. That means as you hear the speakers voice played back you re-speak the audio into Dragon which you have trained on. It takes some practise but is pretty efficient once you get a handle on it. It will save you a lot of time as you only speak the bits you need and you will retain more information.

the easy way to do this is to play the music file on winamp or some other media player while you record with a program like sound recorder which is a poor recorder or nero wave editor then you can edit the way it sounds after you've finished recording and save it in mp3 format etc. then you don't have to try mixing the two together. you may have to play with the position of your mic so you get an even sound between the music playing on your speakers and your voice it takes some practice but it isn't that hard. I use programs like cool edit nero wave editor in combination with winamp to do this all the time.

Try Audacity:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You can mix tracks and edit them. I believe you can even record a track while another is playing, if that's what you are looking for.
