Baby wipes, beef jerky, and other snack foods (trail mix), a letter of encouragement and appreciation.

Give your son-in-law my best regards.

You should make sure he has room for the stuff you send first. The last time my husband was in iraq I sent him huge care packages, but this time He doesn't have room for anything. If your son in law's staying in a tent he might not have any place to store the items you send.

Look on Project AC. They have lists of things they really need.

We send care boxes and have been told not to send chocolate because it melts all over everything. Even deodorant can melt and make a mess.

We do hard candies, socks, books, photos of things going on around here (funny things mostly), anything that feels like home.

We've also heard that it's good to send things they can give the kids there. Little toys, soccer balls, etc.

Good luck!

I would love to send them some AC, but they are not necessarily around electrical outlets all the time. Some good things to send are soap, toothpaste, some comfort foods that can be mailed. No meatloaf or anything. Also, send some socks and underwear and maybe some sunglasses and sunscreen and the aloe vera that we buy in bottles from Banana Boat. Chap Stick. Calling cards. Wash cloths and towels. Regular lotion.

A girl that I work with boyfriend is over seas.

She said, that he loved getting card games/ board games. They need something to do in their free time. If he plays magic, I would send him 2 starter decks, and a few booster packs of whatever the newest edition is. (I would send 2 that way a buddy can play 2) Or is he is into another type of gaming, I would send him a rule book for that game. you can get dungeon and dragon books at books a million (or almost any hobby or bookstore) for 29.99.

Chapstick, gum, novels, small games, maybe some CD's, candy-not chocolate that melts. Sunglasses if he wears them. Maybe a cup holder to keep drinks cold. Letters, they always love to get letters and pictures. Those are the only ideas I can think of right now. I would say almost anything someone in really hot weather needs.

Nothing that might melt!!! Popular items usually, are cool aid, or other powdered drinks. Current DVDs, small canned foods, cigarettes, magazines, underwear, microwave popcorn.... Really, send him a letter and ask him what he would like. It will depend on where he is, and what is available to him. He may need toiletries, or he may have a px right next door and not really need anything.
