Any skin can be made into leather. It becomes leather once it has passed through the tanning process.

I am horrified by this question..... where did it come from?? I don't know if you yourself has one or if you're just asking b/c you've heard about one, but I don't know how anybody could keep something like that. This is what the Nazis did in WWII! It's absolutely barbaric, disgusting and an insult to the human race. I don't care how old something is either, human remains should be respected ALWAYS. We're not talking about hair or fingernails here, this was absolutely taken from a corpse. If it IS archaic in someway then it should be in a museum. There is a public law forbidding the trafficking of human tissue, but so far it's only in area of organ transplants. I think there should be an amendment to include items made of human tissue. If it's illegal to buy/sell/acquire items made from elephant tusks, why not human skin?? Ack....

I have seem some old women that must have lived outdoors and in the south too. Their skin was so tanned and rough looking, I thought they had a skin tight leather coat on. Their faces looked really bad. So I suppose they could, I know this one woman was well on her way there. good luck and use sun block.

Did you see the movie Silence of the Lambs? That weirdo was making something to wear out of human skin. Yes, the Nazi's did make lamp shades out of Jewish skin; it's disgusting but true.

somewhat, the nazis made lampshades out of human skin, the european settlers in this country used native americans for razor strops and boots and saddle accessories.
the monstrosities won't stop there, either. and this people will deny it forever.

Yes. In the days when American caucasians thought American Indians were no better than animals, some of their skins were made into razor strops.
