You should tell that to the Australians and Kiwis and a few other nationalities who also have the Queen as their head of state.
For your info, we don't clal her the "Queen of England" as Americans do. To us she is the Queen of Canada; to Australians, she is the Queen of Australia, etc.

True, the Queen is on our one dollar coin. She is also on our penny, nickle, dime quarter & two dollar coin.
The Queen is the official Head of State for Canada. Remember, Canada is a former British colony and we were granted independence (peacefully) but remained a member of the British Commonwealth.
As for a Canadian version of "George Washington"....we have the following:
$ 100 - Robert Borden Prime Minister 1911-1920
$ 50 - William Lyon MacKenzie King P.M. 1921-1948
$ 20 - Queen Elizabeth
$ 10 - John A MacDonald Prime Minister
$ 5 -Wilfred Laurier Prime Minister 1896-1911

Your first question has been well answered so far.
About Washington ...
Canada and United States have been colonies of Great Britain. You had a war against the Great Britain to become independant. You don't belong to the Commonswealth as we are which is (I believe) including about 50 countries previously colonies from Great Britain.
Now, Canada is independant as the Queen has no power on us. That is even ridiculous to pay some of her representants (all Canadians) to sign all the laws on her behalf.
We have no link in the history with the U.S.A. .. some huge lands have been giving with some treaties ... that is including the previous huge area named "Louisiana". Then G. Washington isn't in our book.
That was my simple summarized explaination!

Yes, the Queen is on our coins. That being said however, it is just a historical thing. She has no real power in Canada other than ceremonial. We have been an independent Nation since 1867, we just honor our heritage by having the current British monarch on our coins and by being a bilingual Nation in respect to the 2 founding Nations. Nothing wrong with showing respect to our history and no we don't have a George Washington but we do have the first prime Minister, Sir John A. Mac Donald who is known as the Father of confederation, which is kinda sorta the same thing , but he was also a drunk so I doubt he'll ever be on our currency.

If we had George Washiongton on our dollar then wouldn't you get that mixed up with american money?????
I have a better idea. Why don't you put our queen on your money? She's more attractive than George Washington is.

Spot on mate,
It is very Brith'ish [form the Hebrew - men of the covenant]. We have been born under the Royal Crown, and those who haven't have been asked to swear allegiance to the Queen of England till death do us part.
The French Canadians chose not to come under the French Emperors, nor to be ruled by the French republicans, though it does irk them somewhat to be under Brith'ish governance at times. They would prefer to be free to guide their own ethnic groups.
So choose - do you want to be a Royal Subject, and reap the priviledges thereof, or do you want to talk rebellion [I doubt you would be transported to Australia like you used to be in days gone by].
Every problem has a solution, and every solution brings new problems.
