Should I worry about being 7 pounds overweight when I ship out to BCT for Army? I seen an earlier posting about how they are letting people overweight in as long as they lose the weight within a year..please any comment or suggestions?

N O!! 7 pounds overweight is acceptable, anyway,
you will lose that weight the first 2 weeks of basic training. You could help yourself by walking or running before BCT!!Good Luck in your Military
Training!!

You have nothing to worry about. If you are overweight, the first thing they will do is test your body fat percentage. If that meets the requirement then it is no problem. If not, you will just go to the holding company before you actually get to BCT. You will get the diet and exercise you need there. Also, it shouldn't take long at all. Probably 2 weeks.

TRUST me you will lose that extra 7 plus a few your first week of basic. Between PT and having basically 2 minutes to eat meals, throwing up and not having much time to yourself, you will be regulation weight in no time. Don't be surprised if they put an X on your back to mark you as overweight your first few days of Boot camp.

For all the talk of lowering enlistment standards, its well to remember that a West Texas Sharecroppers Son , Audie Leon Murphy-World War II's most Decorated Soldier would be considered ineligible due to educational deficiencies.

Being overweight won't stop you from being selected. Once you get to basic they'll take care of your excess weight for you.

you should try to lose the weight beforehand, but once in the army you will probally lose the weight rather quickly because of the physical demand of the job.

Maybe you should be asking why the army is so hard up for new recruits that they have to lower standards
