IF the Bible did not mention topics or practises that were considered sinful and punishable such as homosexuality and witchcraft, would you still consider them wrong? If the Bible did not bring up these and similar practises, would your reaction to them be different?

My personal position on these topics is NOT important, nor am I trying to change your thinking. I'm just curious.

I don't need the bible to serve as a moral compass. As soon as I got scratched, I knew it was wrong to juggle kittens.

Speaking about the general population I think a good example is that of dressing in clothing. Most people would be ashamed to be totally naked in public, so then there is social pressure for those few who want to go naked to confine such practice to private clubs or nudist camps. The Bible teaches that we are to be clothed, but I think society lives more according to feeling. Such feelings may be reinforced by what people are taught to believe. In some African cultures it is perfectly normal to be mostly naked.

But more to your question the Bible is big on idolatry being wrong so you would have to remove very large portions scattered throughout the Bible, otherwise such things as wichcraft would be viewed as wrong.

There are a lot of specific behaviors in the Bible that are not mentioned. I think these things are mentioned so there would not be any confusion. If they were not there I think that those truly filled with the Holy Spirit would not have a dilemma over what was and was not acceptable from God. Without those specific things, the Bible is still very clear about how God intends us to live- we have a conscious- God put in us the understanding of what is right and wrong- certain behaviors cause us to feel shame and make us feel we have to hide- it is because we know deep within ourselves that the behavior is wrong , whether it is written or not

I'm not trying to be a smart @ss, but would the Bible be still in print if it did not contain many lists of sins and things we are supposed to fear or avoid? It is not the inclusion of witchcraft or homosexuality that makes us think differently about these things so much as the fact that the readers of the Bible are actually seeking commandments, precepts, and moral guidance to simplify how they behave. It is easier to accept some authoritative list than to have to come to independent conclusions concerning all matter of issues.

Young Lady,
I would not consider something as being wrong if it was not sinful in GOD'S Eyes. I have personally attempted to make contact with a number of people who I used to deem as too sinful to be around and I am sorry to say that many have their own friends and are not interested in opening new friendships. I generally get along very well with everyone though. Have a wonderful evening.
Thanks,
Eds

PS... Next time that you use a photo as an avatar, SMILE! I want to see you smiling. I think that you are a very pretty young lady.

No my opinion would not change. Witchcraft in the bible refers to two separate things, first witchcraft the art of using dark forces to presumably cast spells i have known practicing witch's and never seen a spell that worked, second witchcraft the art of sedition and rebellion to turn others from the true path.

Homosexuality is wrong because like who wants to see two men having sex? Not me.

Just my two-cents

I was brought up as a Christian. I was also very lucky to be well-educated. As an adult, I firmly believe in the probability of Evolution, with an eye always on the question of Creationism. I wonder at the natural characteristics of both undersea & land adaptations/mutations by reptiles, mammals & insects, while wondering how an initial, miraculous burst of creation must've started "somewhere" & "somehow" by "Something!" .....SOMETIME!!!!....and what existed before all THAT? Will time ever stop to exist? I dunno, really. Do you? Does anyone, really?
But to answer your question directly, and it is a GOOD one, I naturally & instintively know that homosexuality is VERY unnatural (NOT what out-spoken homosexuals want you to believe), both males & females may or may not naturally explore their sexuality for a brief period of time with other males & females (and it naturally shouldn't last), and the term "witchcraft" is no more valid than magic. Thanks for the intelligent question.

I knew that homosexuality and witchcraft were wrong long before I began reading the Bible.

There is plenty of behavior that the Bible does not mention such as child molestation. How do you think I should rule on that? However, your hypothesis is based on that which does not exist. So I stand next to the Bible in saying that this is condemned behavior.

They would still disapprove. Tee bible never mentioned interracial marriage but Christians did a pretty good job of claiming that it did and that it was wrong.

I'm glad that people are wrong when they say the definition of marriage shouldn't be changed. It's been changed many times and we should be very thankful to those who have done so.

I personally don't think so because of the ending result. Example: If you decided to put homosexuals on a large island, you would notice in decades that they really wouldn't have a future. (This is fact; man/man & woman/woman is the "the basic formula, yes?") You know where I'm going with this point.

I'm not instigating, just pointing out something.
