I don't even feed pork to my children. did you know that pork has parasites that can outlive the temperature used in cooking it? Those parasites take hold of the inside of your colon and produce horrible medical trouble down the road. I wouldn't chance it with my dog when there is plenty other good stuff to feed them. :)

No. Human food is fine for dogs as long as you avoid the obvious problem foods like onions (causes anemia), chocolate, alcohol, coffee, heavy spices, etc.

Undercooked pork has been known to have parasites but if you are talking about plainly cooked pork with potatoes then your dogs will be happy to have some.

The idea that human food is bad for dogs is a myth. Food for dogs comes from the same place as food for humans...from the fields and from the slaughterhouse. Humans receive a higher grade because we see it fresh while dog food is highly processed and usually beyond recognition.

When 'human' food is bad for dogs is when it is bad for humans...when it is nutritionally unbalanced because it is all one thing or another. A widely balanced diet of meat or vegetable protein, fats (saturated and non), cheeses (except for blues which may cause problems), colorful vegetables, some digestible grains and the occasional piece of safe fruit is fine for dogs.

Unlike dog food, a day's worth of 'human' food isn't homogeneous and 'complete' but our menus aren't either. We get our balance from eating a good variety of fresh foods in moderation over a period of several days.

The pet food industry is gigantic and it will have (obviously successfully at times) most people believing that freshly prepared, high quality 'human' foods will be the death of your pet.

It can be. Pork is greasy and that can lead to Pancreatitis in some dogs....especially older dogs, or sensitive dogs. It is best to avoid pork. Chicken..white meat...is a good choice.

My dogs LIVE on the RAW diet. MEAT. PORK, CHICKEN and BEEF mostly! It's cheaper than dog food and my dogs are much healthier. It can make an old dog feel younger and cure a lot of dog ills.
I learned about it years ago when a friend put her two 9 year old Great Danes (THAT is old for a Dane) on "Raw Diet". Their arthritis went away and they lived to be 12 and 14 (REALLY old for Danes). Go here to learn what you need to know about it, where to get it, how much to feed (takes less than dog food) why it is cheaper and where to get it.
My dogs NEVER have to go to the vet and have super shiny hair. It stopped my Corgi's allergy to dog food too!
Good luck to you!
