How can you dismiss every single bit of proof that exists, and then have the arrogance to say that the burdon of proof is on us to prove that God exists instead of the burdon being on you to prove an absolute negative?

Shawn B. - The moment you assert that God DOESN'T exist the burdon also falls on you.

S.H - Proving that something is logical and proving that it's true are two different things.

And why don't I provide proof for you? Because people like you are the same kind who didn't believe Jesus was the son of God enven when they saw Him with their own eyes. Even those who claimed to be His followers turned against Him, so I doubt that you would acknowledge Jesus for who He is even if He came down and sat right next to you.

Jesus was sent by God even for your sins so that you have the opportunity to enter the kingdom of Heaven, and you still spit in his face by claiming that God doesn't exist. I'm not here to try to convince you that God exists, because you've very clearly already made up your mind that He doesn't; I'm saying that He exists regardless of whether or not you choose to believe that He does, and you will stand before Him on your judgement day whether or not you believe that He exists.

Actually, the burden of proof is on God.

Assuming God to be all-knowing and all-powerful, I doubt he would need puny humans to make the case for his existance. The humans he has tasked with this job aren't doing very well.

Apparently, God is too weak and incompetent to not only prove himself to sceptics, but can't even prove which one/s is/are the real one/s.

Aside from that, the proof is on YOU, because YOU are the ones telling US that we must believe or be thrown into an eternal pit of damnation created by your loving, father-like God, for US.
Hmmm. How nice of him.

Actually, I don't know any tatheists that go around knocking on doors trying to convince others that there isn't a God. We really don't care if anybody adopts our beliefs. What we often find is that when a christian or other religious person tries to "prove" God to us, when we shoot holes in that "proof," we are then accused of attacking the religious.

I just wish they'd quit knocking on my door at dinnertime, and leaving those pamphlets on my windshield while I'm in the store.

All of your "proof" is nothing more than an Appeal to Incredulity. There is nothing empirical about it. That's why we don't accept it.

And negatives can't be proven.
Can you prove that there ISN'T a teapot circling the sun between earth and mars?
Nope.

EDIT:
The problem with offering Jesus' sacrifice and miracles as proof of God is that none of the Gospels were written by anyone who ever met Jesus. Further, the Gospels were written no less than four decades after Jesus supposedly died. Even christian, biblical scholars agree on those points. In order for Jesus and his actions to be counted as legitimate proof that there is a God, you must first prove that the stories in the Gospel are factual and true. That would be a neat trick, considering that even the Gospels contradict each other on several points.

And, "Believe or you are going to Hell!!!" isn't proof either.

I'm not an atheist, so I'm not about to dismiss every single bit of proof that exists...
however - let me know what that proof is - so then I can become a theist.
Bottom line... there is no proof, for the existence or non-existence of God. It remains a question of personal conviction, irrationality, faith and logic.
All of the above must be satisfied.

Many people, of all kinds of points of view, would love to see the proof you claim. They wait patiently for that proof, but it never comes...
because it currently does not exist. If the proof was there, there would be be no further debate. Atheists rely on logic. Using the principles of logic you can neither prove or disprove a negative.
If you wish to convince them of the error of their ways - produce a logical argument of your own. Good luck with that.
As a Christian you should not feel the need to justify your own beliefs. You are entitled to be irrational if that is what gets you through life.
I don't think the burden of proof is on you to prove the existence of God, unless you a trying to convince others of that assertion.

Oh, by the way, I'm impressed by the Bible knowledge here, but that does not constitute proof either. So making quotations from the Good Book is not gong to convince an atheist that he is wrong, so why bother.
Furthermore, most atheists do not deny the existence of Jesus of Nazareth. They just don't think he was anything other than a man. The jews around at the time (for the most part) had the same opinion.

I know this question is being asked of atheists but I think it falls under the philosophy of a bumper sticker I once read: If you're right and there is no God, I will have still lived a good life. If I'm right and there is a God...
The only proof we have resides in our hearts, and we are blessed because we believe without having seen, without "scientific" proof.
As a preacher I greatly respected said, "You can't prove that God exists. But neither can you prove that He doesn't".

Atheists will not admit that there have been hundreds of discoveries prooving the Bible but seeking proof is not why they are in R&S this is the real reason....I used to be an atheist before but thankfully not now, 100 % believer now and the atheists here that have not converted yet are only here for one reason, to learn more about God because they are fence sitters still not sure if they want to jump in. REAL atheists like I used to be would never hang out in a place such as this that is full of religion. in their questions and answers they will deny it but that is only so their friends that see their questions an answers will not make fun of them.they will put up a very strong anti-God front but a front is all it really is.....100 % here are secretly fence sitters..no true atheists here so keep preaching, they really do want to hear it...... even the ones you are talking about....HOWEVER if you see violations of yahoo guidelines please report 100% of the abuses, they can sit on the fence but only decently !

Atheist purely assert that there's no reason the believe a god exist or to believe that a god exist. christians say athiest say "Atheists assert lifestyles spontaneously generated from non-lifestyles" whilst they're attempting to make strawman arguments. you are able to element to no incident the place a atheist mentioned this. Atheist do no longer matter on how lifestyles began to help their arguments on why their isn't any god.

They have no proof that God does not exist, and deep in their hearts, they know God exists, but are afraid to admit it, and no matter how much proof we give them, that historians have found actual proof the Bible is the inspired word of God, they are just afraid of admitting there is even a small chance that God exists. Since God gave us free will, it was because He wants us to come to him willingly, and it only takes a small amount of faith, as the Bible says, even faith the size of a grain of mustard seed is all it takes to have faith, but they are afraid to admit how they really feel, so they make up stuff just to bash Christians.....but I would rather believe in the loving God and live my life for him while I am alive, then wait till I die to find out He is real!

"What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence." -Christopher Hitchins

See also, Russel's teapot, which I think for Christians qualified for a *drink*:

"Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of skeptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes.

"But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it; I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."

You say you have proof that Christianity is correct.

Quite clearly you don't. Faith and the feeling God gives you inside is all well and good, but if you had solid, concrete evidence that God exists, it would be well known.

Religious nuts would wave it in everyone's faces and if scientists couldn't disprove it, we would be forced to accept it.

The reason you have to prove it is because you're the one claiming supernatural, age-old theories as true, rather than science that has worked to get where it has got to.

Grow up.

No. Proof. Exists.

Furthermore, the burden of proof is on the one making the claim.

What if I assert that invisible goblins exist? Would you accept it?

What if I claim I have a right to hurt you - say, prevent you from getting married - because the invisible goblins would be upset otherwise?

Your the one that says he's all powerful, made everything, is everywhere etc...etc.... ad nausiem.Seems to me something like that should be easy to prove.Yet, There is not on piece of evidence that god exists.I could show you evidence all day that most likely he doesn't exist and you would never believe me. Come on its the most powerful force in the universe and you don't have any means to prove its there, logic will tell you it probably isn't there.
