Sabbath according to the Holy Bible is the Seventh day of the week which is Saturday and not Sunday. The Ten commandments were not given exclusively to the Jewish people. They were given to be upheld by the nations of the world for generations to come.

Jesus never made any changes in the Ten Commandments. Therefore, why is there this obvious departure from God's Sabbath given to mankind at Creation and then reiterated in God's Moral Law. God himself wrote the Ten Commandments with his own fingers. (Exodus 31:18).

There are some people who keep Sunday as a celebration of Jesus's resurrection. He never commanded us to worship in honor of His resurrection. Just as the communion service symbolizes His death (1 Cor. 11:24-26) baptism symbolizes His resurrection (Rom. 6:1-6). The symbol of Jesus' resurrection is not worship on the day of the sun adopted into Christianity from pagan Rome's sun worship, but a beautiful ceremony of baptism as a symbol of a new life transformed by the wonder working power of the Holy Spirit.

There are people who misinterpret the scriptures that describe the disciples worshiping on the Sabbath when in Truth they really were only gathering on Saturday night after the Sabbath was over.

The reason this meeting is mentioned in this narrative is because Paul was leaviing the next day and worked a mighty miracle in raising Eutychus from the dead. It is clear that the meeting is a night meeting. It is the dark part of the first day of the week(Acts 20:7). In Bible times, the dark part of the day preceded the light part (Gen. 1:5). The Sabbath was observed from Friday night sunset to Saturday night sundown(Lev. 23:32; Mk. 1:32). If this meeting is on the dark part of the first day of the week, it is in fact a Saturday night meeting. Paul has met with the believers all Sabbath. He will depart the next day Sunday, so the meeting continues late into Saturday night. The next day Sunday Paul travels by foot to Assos, then sailed to Mitylene. The New English Bible reading of Acts 20:7 also confirms this as a Saturday night meeting with Paul traveling on Sunday. If Paul considered Sunday sacred in honor of the resurrection , why would he spend the entire day traveling and not worshipping? The record indicates that Paul was a Sabbath keeper (see Acts. 13:42-44; 17:2; 16:12,13; 18:4).

I agree with you that it is hard to understand why Christians will honor nine of the Ten Commandments, but not all. Especially one that was created before Jews came into existence. At creation God created the earth in six days and on the seventh He hallowed that day for rest and worship. It is a 24-hour period out of the week from sundown Friday and sundown Saturday to honor God, worship Him and rest from the work we've done throughout the week and spend it with our Creator. That's not asking too much.

I don't know if you are a Seventh-Day Baptist or a Seventh-Day Adventist. I am the latter and I'm proud of it.

The sabbath commandment was not pointing to one isolated day for us to be holy.It was pointing us to Christ in which everyday is Holy.Matthew 11:28-29 speak very clear on this issue.Come unto me all ye that are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you REST for your soul.It is in Christ where we find the rest that God wrote with His finger and gave to Moses. The commandments were only a shadow of the things to come, Hebrews 10:1.It was our school master, and once faith has come we are no longer under the law,Galatians 3:24-25.

As far as Saturday being the sabbath please bear in mind these facts.
Christ rose from the grave on the first day of the week/Sunday.
This was later referred to as the "Lords Day". John began to write Revelations on this day, Rev. 1:10.
The Holy Ghost was poured out on the 120 at Jerusalem on Sunday. It says when "the day of Pentecost was fully come",Acts 2:1 that is when the voice from heaven filled the room like a wind and the began to speak in tongues, here was given the power that Christ had promised if they would only go and wait for it.In case you don't know what Pentecost means, it means 50, or seven Sabbaths which equals 49 plus one day which makes it fall on Sunday.
Acts 20:7 tells us that Sunday was the day that the disciples came together to break bread and here Paul preaches until midnight.Sounds like a church service to me.
Col. 2:16 tells us that we are not to let any man judge us concerning the Sabbaths, yet your sect continues to do just that.Shouldn't that be also a concern? Also since Christ never once taught that men should uphold the Sabbath.

IF you are a follower of Jesus Christ, aka a christian, then you would remember that all of the commands given to the jews are fulfilled within the keeping of the Two Great Commandments.

This includes a day of rest.

The sabbath was made FOR people to have a day off, rest and thank the God of Abraham for that rest. By following the Two Great Commandments, that rest is included with all the other 612 commands handed down to Jews.

So, IF you wish to make the sabbath a saturday or a sunday or a friday or monday or whenever you get a day to rest, then that follows the Two and fufills the Ten. If you do not get a physical day off and must work because it is good to do so, then your rest is within those Two Commands being kept.

Sabbath is not just a physical act by scripture, but one that is spiritually present within the New Life of Jesus.

That is how the scriptures put it.

Now if you insist on carrying on Jewish traditions just for the sake of tradition, that is YOUR choice. You cannot justify people by your choice, only by them keeping The Two Commands. Anything else is pharetical and is considered judging. Not discernment, but actual judging. And although you may judge people, be warned you may reap what you sow.

I didn't realize that God began creation on Sunday. A day is as 1000 years and 1000 years as one day to God...so, how do you actually know when 6 days have passed. The important thing is to set apart time and keep that time only for Him. The Sabbath was an actual day of rest as well...but I don't know how much rest I could get if I had to concentrate on the Levitical laws limiting all of the actions that can occur on that day. In some aspects, just walking across your house could put you into violation as you are only allowed a certain amount of steps during that day.

Granted, the new week starts on Sunday...most of the work weeks start on Monday and since it was work that God was resting from why would it be inappropriate to not observe the Sabbath on the 7th day of the work week?

Whether the Sabbath is Saturday or Sunday is arbitrary; why couldn't the seventh day have been a Wednesday? I suppose the fact that the days of the week weren't even known as those names back then has no factor in this. In any case, even with non-Christians it's still customary for both Saturday AND Sunday to fall on a weekend, and most people don't work on either day. Those that do, however, don't always have the choice; and the world can't afford for every single person to stop working on Saturday OR on Sunday. It's impractical, and frankly comes to little more than nitpicking to judge it as a "fault" of others.

There were many commandments(laws) hundreds actually given for the people(Israel) but since the arrival & death of Jesus Christ it is the exercising of faith in him that we are to be concerned about. Colossians 2:13-17(law removed) Here is an occasion when Jesus was asked about the commandments (laws) and his answer - Mark 12:28 / Matthew 22:40.

good question
i asked a similar question once, it was removed, be careful with your questions.
and for the most part, they say its not convenient to keep the sabbath day holy. too many neat and nifty things going.
some say, "we are under grace, there for, we don´t need to follow any of the commandments, or follow any of the rules."
I have asked a few pastors the same question. they mostly say, times have changed, along with the above.

I want to answer this but I can't right now. If you keep this open I will come back to it tomorrow. Which happens to be the sabbath.

Saturday is the Sabbath day. God sanctified the 7th day.

It is very important to obey God. When Adam and Eve were in the garden he never told them pick any tree to chose not to eat from, he commanded them not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It is the same for the Sabbath he commanded the 7th, he never said it was ok to pick and choose.

Catholics changed this day to the first day of the week after the pagan day of worship. They were sun worshipers and worshiped on "SUNday".

Genesis 2:2-3
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

This says God blessed the "7TH" day.

Mark 2: 27-28

27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.
28 Therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the sabbath.

The sabbath was created as a day of rest, remember our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Jesus is Lord over the sabbath he can do what he wants. That's why he allowed his disciples to pluck and eat corn on the sabbath it was necessary. Their ox was in the mud so to speak. Jesus also healed on the sabbath. It was ok to do the Fathers work on that day.

Exodus 20:8-11
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shaly not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

We see the 7th day again. This is a commandment.

Matthew 5: 17-19

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfill.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of the least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Here we have Jesus telling us the importance of keeping the commandments, all of them.

Exodus 31:15-17
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever:..

It is a perpetual covenant, everlasting, for ever.

Matthew 24:20 But pray your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

Here again Jesus is talking of the importance of keeping the sabbath. Notice he is talking about days to come after his crucifixion well into the New Testament.

Perhaps Jesus' parting words: "Love ye one another" don't mean exactly what most christians tend to think...
(And if they don't comprehend that, how can they comprehend Sabbath, Jubilee, or Sabbatical?)

Shabbat Shalom
