Kings Cross Thameslink Station on Pentonville Road has trains to Brighton every 15 minutes during off peak hours. Journey time is about an hour and a half (via London Bridge, East Croydon and Gatwick Airport)!

There are two options from St Pancras.
The 1st is to go to Kings Cross St Pancras tube station and catch a South Bound Victoria Line train to Victoria. At Victoria you then should be able to catch a Southern Train or Gatwick Express train to Brighton.

The second may be more simple. When you come out of St Pancras Station you will see signs for Kings Cross Thameslink Station which is about 5 minutes walk if you go there you can catch a Thameslink train to Brighton.

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you.

Due to fuel charge increases and the needed cutbacks, as from April the 1st '98, London Railway stations stopped going anywhere I'm afraid.

The General Manager of 'Thee Greater London Termini,' declared on that day in 1858, 'We aint going anywhere, Gents. You'll just have to take the trains instead. We've given the drivers maps and sandwiches for everyone. So go on, hop it, your causing a nuisance, and if yous lot keep it up, then I'll have to call a Bobby.'

PostScript: Although there have been changes over the years since my dad was a driver on the Southern, trains for Brighton left from Victoria and or Charring X Stations.

St Pancras (apart from the soon to be Channel Tunnel trains - southwards journeying ~ ) is best known for trains going in the opposite direction ....like The Midlands.

Kings Cross Themeslink, if travelling to St Pancras from the east Midlands you could always change at Luton and save the walk from St Pancras.

You can go from London Bridge or victoria. To get timetables etc go to www.nationalrail.co.uk. Either station can be reached by underground from kings Cross/St Pancras - Victoria via the Victoria line and london Bridge by the Northern Line.
