Best if the are developed with reason. They are imperative. We all have some default philosophy. let it be through thoughtful and logical self examination that we arrive at the creed we live by.

First off, is your avatar a dark iz from "the maxx" msg me plz, it's cool
but to A your Q a creed is different from religion, a creed is a statement of truth that people practicing a certain religion can all agree on, like a group of people setting some house rules from B-ball, its' just stuff they know the rest of them agree to be true, so anything said can be filtered through the assurance you know that they know curtain things are true
good Q keep thinking

All creeds (ie religions) that I have learned of are helpful for developing morality... and a desire to know spiritual truths. Sometimes the creeds also teach ways to connect to God or spiritual truth.
Morality is necessary for the function of society. It is helpful to learn morality in the context of a society of people, as well as in the home.... hence creeds create a body of believers who can interact and teach/learn from one another.

Creed makes some wonderful fragrances. If you have the loot to drop on it, it's worth it. Many fragrances will get you attention, but Creed will get you laid...seriously. If that's not USEFUL then what is?

Creeds are superfluous and they are man-made. Many people put more trust in creeds than they do in the Bible. For instance, the trinity doctrine is based on the man-made Athanasian Creed, not on the Bible. Basically, it says that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit. The three persons of the Godhead are coequal and co-eternal.
Is the Athanasian Creed's concept of God in harmony with Scripture? No. Instead of being made up of 3 co-equal, co-eternal "persons," Jesus said that his Father ALONE is the true God. (John 17:3) This harmonizes with 1 Cor. 8:6: "There is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him."
Creeds have distorted God's clear message as found in the Bible.

Most creeds were developed in response to heresies that threatened sound doctrine. The best ones hold good today, even though the language is archaic, because the same heresies are still at work, if sometimes in new disguises.

If there is an endeavor then it would warrant being of one mind. Some creeds are geared in that manner.

IF it helps a person be more like the deity he or she is worshiping and that deity is a positive one then they are very useful.
