Do you find it pathetic when someone repeatedly asks questions about atheists (or Christians, or Pagans, etc.), and then proceeds to block people of those beliefs from answering? Is it possible this kind of action illustrates fear? And fear of what exactly? Opposing viewpoints perhaps?

I just got blocked by some chick who is asking some very nasty, pointed questions. I've seen this kind of thing before on here and it just leaves me shaking my head.

Phoenix Ablaze, I don't usually either :) In most cases, however, it's a bit hard to miss as I'm furiously typing an answer, hit submit, and find that in the span of mere minutes I've been blocked LOL... it's usually a really good answer too :p

Temptress,
I have never been blocked by anyone to my knowledge. I do feel that such a thing is rather childish and I would never do such a thing. I am sorry that there are people who say things then do not want to hear an opposing viewpoint. This forum is really neat because you can very easily get each and every side to any question most of the time. Have a wonderful evening and a glorious weekend.
Thanks,
Eds

PS... From your avatar I would never have guessed that you were a VERY YOUNG lady!!

I don't think no one has blocked me yet, If they ask a question I will answer if i know the answer.
I'm just stating my opinion,If you don't get no answers, why would you want to ask a question? If I ask a question I would like a lot of answers on it so it would help me solve the problem. With all the opinions.
Every one thinks different, so what is right for one is wrong for the other one.You just got to figure out which is best for you. All the answers gives you a lot to choose from.

Look at it like a bubble in a stream: it's so temporary and insignificant. Seems like if they don't like answers then why post the question? Wait a minute--does that question of mine remove ten points from my total percentage of best answers? Did I just loose another ten? Did I just....oh, wha' the hey.

May all be at peace.

John

PS This is not a forum for dialog (don't want to see anyone get zapped). JP

Probably because they don't understand. Some people think they have to hate what they don't understand and so they block you. Kind of like Beauty and Beast we don't know who he really is or what he is really like so he must be bad and we have to kill him. Just be the bigger person and don't follow their suit. I haven't ever blocked anyone everyone has a right to free speech just because we don't agree does not mean we have to block each other. I have people of all faiths in my contacts and you know i like that way. I get to see what others believe.

I've only been blocked once that I know of, and I had never even seen or heard of the person before! Fundies block for the same reasons they believe... irrational thoughts.

Edit: People of many different beliefs block for irrational reasons... but fear is probably the big one.

Heh, you know why Brynn blocks people right? He (yes its a he actually) has multiple accounts and gives himself best answer all the freaking time and doesn't want people to see that and report him. To date this person has the accounts "Grendel", "Brynn" "Titus", and "Jurgen".

I know what you mean. This kind of thing happens in the Cultures section all the time... Some racist poop will ask a dip sh*t racist question and then block people who he/she thinks/knows isn't racist.

I think it's sometimes the result of fear. But I think it's also rooted in the desire to annoy.

Who is this Brynn person?

As far as I know I have never been blocked. And that suprises me because I probably deserve it way more than any of you guys.

I know a lot depends on the way you make your opinion, or anyone else. The language is it appropriate or not. Are you putting others down for their beliefs? Be sure not to be rude or obnoxious when you respond.

People WILL find ways to misuse ANYTHING.
Personally, I only block trolls and idiots looking for attention.

Oh, wait. Those are the same thing, aren't they?
