Maybe a beer would help them, but to go by their answers and questions they are desperately angry, hostile and isolated people. Most of them need more human contact. But a prayer for them will not hurt.

I wouldn't make generalizations about atheists as a whole, but the ones we get on R&S are mostly social isolates - you can tell that just from the amount of time - fantastical - they are online. Probably they tend to have personality disorders which cause them to be friendless, hence they are unhappy and need something to lash out at. Christians are an obvious target because most people are Christian and most people are reasonably happy - or at least a lot happier than atheists, who seem most unhappy indeed.

Wow. I don't think this is accurate at all. My husband is an atheist and he's very happy. I'm going to join him for a beer after he gets out of work in about 15 minutes. Thanks for the prayer and I'll offer my beer to you. (Buddhist Yogini) I like beer a lot!
Thanks for this! Really, that's a bit childish, don't you think? Kindness goes a long way and you don't sound so happy yourself. Have a better evening!

I think they believe whatever they read, like Dawkins and Hitchens. When they discover that there are smart religious people, the atheists get mad because they can't believe there are people who a) disagree with them, and b) aren't just like them. They are like Professor Higgins saying 'why can't a woman be just like a man?' - the atheists here who get so incoherent cannot stand the fact that there are people who think they are wrong!

Why do people stereotype atheists as being rude people who beat up on Christians?
A Majority of Atheists are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. And not only that but I don't think you should stereotype a whole group based on one persons answer. You asked for there opinion you got it. Deal with it.
I'm a Christian btw

Nice straw man you got there! I don't know one atheist that has bottled up rage, me included. I may feel frustration at the ufettered idiocy of religion, but I myself am a very happy person.

I'm sorry, but do you know me? I think not. I have no rage, and I am not at all unhappy.
We are all on to you, sweetie; you can keep your "prayers" to yourself. You fling the word about as though it is your badge of honor. If God were real, do you think he would appreciate your self-aggrandizing attitude?

Fact is I doubt if they understand we don't want to change them, God wants to get a hold of their hearts. I found I can not change anyone, but I can sure pray for them and share as God leads. Changing there life style is not my job. Let them have a beer and I will continue to pray as well.

I'd say it's because of comments like that from believers, along with a large amount of anger thrown our way. We condemn religion to an equal proportion to the manner in which we were preached to or condemned.
