Can you tell me a recipe for a roast, but not the traditional pot roast with carrots, onions, celery, etc.?

That one's yummy, but I'd like to try something new. Thanks~

Oh, and I'd appreciate it if it could be cooked in a Crock-Pot. It's too hot right now for oven-roasting.

My Mother in law taught me this one it is odd but delish:

Place roast in crock pot cover with 2 cups strong coffee (you can use decaf) 2 tablespoons mustard (just plain yellow) 3 garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon Lea and Perrins, salt and pepper to taste - let cook at medium or medium low and enjoy for dinner with just a fresh salad or potato salad and fresh tomato slices it also makes tasty sandwiches.

Good Luck!

Our favorite way to do it is to sear all sides of the roast in your crock pot with a little oil, salt and pepper. Not to cook, but just to get the sides all brown and crunchy. Then cover in water and add one of those packaged "Pot Roast" mixes to the water....let it cook ALL day, as you would a normal pot roast, minus the veggies. For the final hour of cooking, remove at least half of the water and add a can of whole cranberry cranberry sauce, let the meat continue to simmer.

You can steam your veggies on the side, or since it's hot, just have salad. This recipe was from a favorite bed & breakfast when I lived in New England...I still can't get enough of it!

I have a pot roast going in the crock pot right now. This is what I did. First I'm using elk sirloin tip but you can use beef. Then I seasoned with garlic salt, pepper, seasoning salt cumin. Then I seer it. Put in Crockpot with a cup of water, 2 beef bullion cubes, few cloves of garlic and splash of worchensire sauce. For the veggies I used onion, yellow squash, zucchini, mushrooms and potatoes. Kinda different but yummy! Cook on low for 8 hours or High for 4-6 hours. If you have leftovers shred then add bbq sauce and have bbq sandwiches. Mmmm now I can't wait until dinners done. Especially after smelling it all day.

We sometimes cut a a roast and season it with cumin, chili powder, onion, garlic, red pepper, cilantro and make a beef chili with it. Serve it with tortillas or rice and beans on the side.
