You need to lighten up on any exercise that may irritate the hamstring muscle. Stretching is good but, don't overdo it. Apply ice to the area. Do not place the ice on direct skin. Place a small towel or a pillowcase first then, place the ice on top. Do this at least 3-4 times/day. Take Motrin/Advil( Ibuprofen) as directed on the bottle. Tylenol has no anti inflammatory properties so this won't help to reduce any swelling. The hamstring muscle can take time to heal so be patient and ease up. I hope this helps.

Because you are using them. True, lunges mostly work your quads, but you need the hamstrings for balance and they are a secondary muscle used in these movements. Do you stretch prior to exercising? Do you stretch after exercising? Stretching is very important to maintain flexibility. Big muscles are not good if you can't scratch your back.

do no longer static stretch (it somewhat is, stand/sit down in place), noticeably devoid of utilising dynamic stretches first (stretches in action). Static stretching a chilly muscle actual will strengthen your threat of harm, and study have shown that static stretching even on a heat muscle will do little or no that can assist you (and easily make you run slower). Use dynamic stretches (examples - A bypass, B bypass, extreme knees, hamstring kicks, and so on.) until eventually now determining. purely static stretch AFTER determining if no longer something is nagging you. i could additionally advise getting your hamstring taped or placed on a hamstring brace (this could nicely be a quick-term answer). you will additionally prefer to strengthen weights to stability out your legs; unbalanced legs bring about the commonplace public of hamstring injuries. you would be wanting to have your hamstrings a minimum of 70% as good as your quadriceps.

It sounds like you may have some tight hamstings, which is common for men. You should get some deep tissue massage on your hamstings and stretch. You want to be careful when your hamstings are tight, because you don't want to tear them. Hope this helps
