Without knowing how the accident happened, and what the citation is for, I would only be guessing. Since the Officer did not witness the accident, he can not testify against you. It will be your word against the other driver. You are only going to court in regards to the traffic violation. The accident itself, will be handled by the insurance company, and a civil court if necessary.

Regardless if the officer knows the other person or not. If you were at fault (which is likely since you didn't include the specifics of the crash) you should be cited. The officer would not cite you for causing a crash that could easily be proved differently by defense counsel.

Some cops may be overbearing pr!cks but we generally won't knowingly endanger our job just to stroke an Innocent person a ticket.

If he was going to give the girl a break, he would have gotten your info, let you go and then let her go without a ticket.

call that officers supervisor on duty. voice your concern and ask for someone to look in to it.
i doubt there is a law anywhere in the states that says if related i can't take your case...

gee sis i'm sorry you got shot by someone and i'm first on scene you will have to wait for the next officer to help you

gee dad sucks you were in an accident and i was first there... oh the guy fled and that's him right there... man wish i could help but alas we are related...

see that just doesn't make sense.

go to court and bring pictures, whitnesses, diagrams of the scene etc... what the judge rules is your only hope if his supervisor can't help you

Oct. 3, 1999 i became utilising with my 3 babies in the motor vehicle. It became a sixty 5 mph. i became utilising approximately 68mph whilst a tire blew out. i did no longer understand what it became however the motor vehicle began shaking, my instinct became to place my foot on the destroy. That did it, the van flipped on the drivers edge the place my arm broke the glass. I picked myself up, leaned over my son in the front seat to guard him and carry him back through fact the van moved to the roof and skidded for sort of one hundred ft until eventually now coming back to its wheels dealing with backwards around the line. I looked on the youngsters, 2 have been high quality, no longer a scratch, my son in the main rear seat had his face coated in blood. It became my very own, and it took constantly yet all i could think of became "God do no longer take my little ones" Please, each physique placed on your seatbelts. The law enforcement officers and accepted responders mentioned if we does no longer have been we'd have likely all been killed. The van became pancaked. My son had 8 stitches and that i nonetheless have glass in my arm-yet we are all great. i actually teared up here. Scariest 2d of my lifestyles.

Wow, that's horrible man. I don't know what you can do but best of luck to you. You can look up some Law Enforcement rules in Google or something. But when you go to court, defend your case.

Contact your car insurance company and their car insurance company and tell them you suspect fraud and both companies will investigate because neither want to pay money. Police get busy and absent-minded and miss things.
