People really aren't against Jews anymore.
Jews (like JWs, Mormons, Catholics, etc.) just THINK they're still persecuted. The vast majority really, quite frankly, just doesn't care anymore.

Hi Talia--I think pastorjohn59 and Julia D have given excellent answers. I'll give you a slightly different one. First, let's leave out the anti-Semitism that has come from the Arab-Israeli conflict; that's a major source, of course, but easily identifiable. So--a study was done in France a couple of years ago, and came to this conclusion:
Anti-Semitism, as all works on racism regularly show, fits into a more general attitude of “ethnocentrism” in the sense of over-valuation of ones own group and rejection of difference, whether ethnic, religious or cultural. Those who think Jews have too much power do not like Arabs or Muslims either, and anti-Semitic prejudices develop in the same milieus as racist prejudices, that is among poorly educated people in a situation of economic insecurity and social inferiority who make minorities the scapegoat for their problems.

you answered mine, so I'll answer yours :-)
We aren't all "rich", as you know (I remember your reply to my question a few minutes ago). People do tend to think we are all rich though, which as you said, is not true. It's a sterotype.
Some of us are rich, some of us aren't. Those of us (Jews) who are doctors, scientists, teachers, and lawyers, etc. who are successful in this country, mostly came from immigrant parents and grandparents who were very, very poor and lived in ghettos in Europe.
When they came here, they gave everything they could so their children could have a good education, and those kids worked HARD and didn't waste what their parents and grandparents sacrificed, so they could become what they are today.
This, I'd think, would be the goal of everyone in America who wants to be successful and have a good life. It's called the American Dream.
Every successful person I know, Jew or non-Jew, worked their BUTTS off to become that way, none of them had it handed to them on a silver platter.
But you know, antisemitism runs just under the surface in a lot of places, and in a lot of people. People hate us (Jews) when we are rich, they hate us when we are poor. They hate us when we are successful, they hate us when we aren't. There really is no LOGICAL rhyme or reason to it whatsoever. It doesn't matter what we do or don't do, some people will hate us just because it is the nature of their soul to do so.
There was a really good seminar given on this, it's a very good one to read. Doesn't take too long. If you or anyone else is interested in "Why The Jews", please have a look at this. It's WELL worth it:

I'm sorry, but I think Barbra Streisand is to blame for 90% of all anti-Semitism in the US today.
I'm just kidding. Jews are OK. The only thing that bothers me about them is that the culture values intelligence and learning on one hand while stubbornly sticking by mystical caveman traditions on the other. Even secular Jews I know observe some sort of religious rites and traditions just to maintain a separate identity. (The whole "I can't turn off a light switch because it's Saturday" thing is among the most moronic religious traditions in *any* religion I can think of.)
Any time you cling to a distinct identity you are separating yourself from the status quo. Only when doing this will you notice people from the herd singling you out. So I'm afraid that any minority that wishes to maintain its identity will by definition be outsiders to at least some degree. And outsiders, no matter if it's race, religion or sexual preference, will always be the ones persecuted. It neither right nor fair, but it's the nature of the human herd mentality.
Other than that I think they're just fine. I have actually been christened an honorary Jew by several Jewish friends.

Talia, there are bigots and ignorant people in the world. They don't always need an excuse, but if they find one they latch onto it. For centuries Jewish people were persecuted because it was believed that they killed Jesus. Of course, this was never true. A few Jews in leadership and some Romans in leadership killed Jesus. Not only was he a Jew but all of his friends and followers were also.
Later people became jealous of the financial and merchandising success of the Jews. None of that really matters. People attack other people because they are bigots and ignorant.
Don't ever let such people get you down. And don't ever forget that you are one of God's chosen race. God bless you.
Pastor John

hi, shalom aleichem!!
i remember being told "it's the way it is, that esav hates yaakov". (the non-jews hate the jews).
i never really felt happy with that explanation, it seemed too simplistic, lacking in specificity, as to 'why'. and then i realized, that since we, as a people don't try to convert others, and in fact make it very difficult for others to convert in; and through history, most of the jewish communities tried to remain closed, pretty much keeping non-jews at arms-length (if you're not friendly with someone, and don't socialize, then there won't be a problem with intermarriage) there is most likely the 'sour grapes' effect happening.
do you remember the story about the fox and the grapes? how the fox saw the luscious bunch of grapes hanging, on a hot day, when he was thirsty... he kept jumping to reach them, and kept just missing. after awhile, he turned and said, that those grapes were probably sour and not worth the effort. after many attempts at proselytizing, in many ways, over 2 millenia, there are bound to be people who feel that we're "not worth it", and, therefore hate us, since we won't adopt their convictions and beliefs. i mean, their attitude is that if we were only 'reasonable' we would 'of course' see the intrinsic 'rightness' of their beliefs, and wholesale, abandon ours.
wish you the best, and don't let them get you down!!!

properly Walt Disney became right into a supporter initially of the Nazi occasion and propaganda. while human beings found out Disney tried to alter the actuality and say they have been against the homicide of Jews. Jesus then appeared till now Walt Disney and instructed him to fund Hitlers military and kill as many Jews as a threat. It became into hitler the even have been given the full Jew hate theory from Walt. They conspired to kill Albert Einstein yet he became into under risk-free practices whilst helping on the Manhatten undertaking. At this ingredient you should comprehend i've got made this all up lol.

There is but one answer, in my opinion, most people do not understand the Jewish history and God!
Ignorance, creates much hate in this world but, the fact will always remain...The Jewish people are God's chosen people!
You mentioned wealth? Do you understand why? Because GOD has provided all that you and all Jewish people have. It is a provision given by God, for your sake.
As a Christian, I too, have a provision and that was through His Son, Jesus. .... Not intending to offend you but, it is my truth.
Shalom

Old habits die hard? There is no logical reason for this sentiment in the 21st century, especially after seeing the fullest effects of blind hatred and anti-Semitism in the Holocaust. Such people are ignorant and ill-informed. I cannot tell you why it is the case.

Well its in the bible and the Torah you were the chosen people and some strayed. And you however will prevail. The same as the Catholics. The religions are very similar.

The Bible says and the Torah too That anyone who hates is a follower of Satan's.
So anytime you hear of people hating you they are NOT Christians, not real ones. Jesus was also a Rabi, from the David line. So anyone who claims to hate all Jews is hating Jesus too.
I don't hate you. I never shall.
