My dad was stationed at Ft. Sill during WW2. He was with the 74th Field Artillery, HQ Co. I've made several visits to Ft. Sill and it is indeed a nice base.

p.s. Goyakhla (AKA Geronimo) is buried there.

It the US Army's Field Artillery School and houses much of III Corps Artillery.

It is generally a nice post and has won honors. The town outside, Lawton, is big enough to have what you need, but not everything you may want. Oklahoma City is about an hour away.

Ft. Sill is kind of noisy since Artillery is usually firing somewhere. The majority of the land is actually impact area.

Im not sure what else you want to know.

I have been down to that part of the state many times. It does get pretty hot in the summer there. Fort Sill, is one of the few, if not the only, frontier forts left. So, there is a lot of history there. I doubt you will have anytime to look around. Geronimo, Quanah Parker and many other famous Indians are buried there.

Artillery, US Army. It is a small city, pretty much a proto-typical military town.
