It's the politically correct thing to say that age difference doesn't matter, but I think that it does when it comes to shared experiences.

I like being with someone who knows about the same toys from when we were kids, the same music, and a similar outlook on world events.

My husband is six years older and that's plenty.

Listen to the Steely Dan song, "Hey Nineteen."

You don't say how old you are, but if you're 18-25 then yes, I'd say it makes a substantial difference. There is a good deal of growth that occurs with young men and women, maturation, between those ages. What most of us find, is that as the years go by and there is an age difference of this span, it doesn't matter quite so much - but in your teens and 20's, it really can mean the difference between someone having been around and more settled and another not quite so life experienced, and perhaps not so quite settled down.

The age gap does have a tendency to close, for the most part, as you get older in relationships and you're both more matched in life experience and maturity.

Age is just a #. Mu husband is 12 yrs older than me. I met him when I was barely 21! He was 32 ish. Now we have been together for 8 yrs total and married 6 of those years. We love eachother and thats all that matters. We dont have a problem with having stuff in common either. He is now 40 and Im 28. We are very happy.

Age should not make a difference in dating someone. As long as you are both over the age of 18. After I was divorced I had always had younger boyfriends than myself. My one boyfriend was 8 years younger and my last was over 20 years younger than me. Age is just a number as long as your both not embrassed by the age difference.

it depends on how old you are. As you get older, 12 years means less, but if you are young (even 20) you are in a different place in your life and have a different generation's life experience that, if nothing else, would give you an added challenge to the relationship

No. I know a happy couple with an age difference of 30yrs, the guy being the younger of the two. I thought it was disgusting, but they love each other, so who am I to judge..

oh..but it does matter if you are under the age of 18.

Age is nothing but a number. I tend to date guys younger than me... anywhere from 5 to 15 years younger.

Age is nothing, so it shouldn't make a difference at all. It's just a number.
