The Global Warming propagandists need a bit more time to get legislation passed all over the world taking away peoples' freedom. After laws are in the books, it won't matter whether global warming is true or not.

<< Global warming has been postponed...>>

No, read the article again (better, read the full article, I'll e-mail it to you if you want). Global warming has slowed because of natural variations and will accelerate again in 2009. In other words - global warming has happened, is happening and will continue to happen.

<< How does it jive with the scientists... >>

Scientists know about natural variations and expect them. The only thing that's changed is the climate model Doug ran is a 10 year model as opposed to the more conventional 100 year models - the 10 year model shows short term variations that are omitted from the longer term models.

Scientists aren't remotely surprised or concerned about the results of this model, it merely confirms what has been said all along. By the way Doug Smith is one of those scientists who have "been telling us that we have been experiencing worse weather than normal".

Answer to your question ...

#1) Global Warming is super serious, everyone should take note of it's outcome because it will be catastrophic if we don't do something about it.

#2) Before we get into alternative energy solutions, we need to look at our current consumption, it does not Matter where you live, each one of our homes is contributing to the problem, if we would just think about adding some compaq florescent lighting, energy star appliances and open a window or two, we would all contribute to the success of taking care of the global warming threat.

#3) for those of you that are thinking of going green, solar is a GREAT solution for all the right reasons, I don't believe jumping right into it before you first take control of your current consumption issues ... cutting back on your current kWh or kilowatt hours will save you a ton of money before you go solar, a good place to start is http://www.patriot-energy.net

Once you have controlled the kWh consumption in the home, then you can purchase the solar power you really need.

Don't confuse short term weather with climate. It is a mistake to link any short term weather in any one place with climate change.

Man made global warming (climate) has been going on for the last 40 years. Individual years vary, but the long term picture is crystal clear, as shown by the data. Here's the picture:

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.A2_lrg.gif

What these people are saying is that they have a better model which can actually deal with some of the year to year variations. Maybe yes, maybe no.

But global warming has started, and is proceeding, no matter what small variations there may be in a particular year. Another picture:

wow, twisted words, nothing in this article hinted that global warming hasn't already begun. This article simply says that global warming effects could have been far more severe, but were not do to other factors. These factors are not expected to play a role between 2009-2014.

in basic terms positioned, we gained't. no count if it rather is organic, nature will take its direction. If mankind has an important impact, no us of a is doing plenty (different than the U.S.) to decrease carbon emissions. (You examine actual, all the guarantees made in Kyoto ... have been greater often than not disregarded by the signatories.) Given the alternative, human beings could spend funds, now and back plenty, to happen the international thermostat. (whilst somebody sells their abode in Michigan, and strikes to Florida for the warm climate, they have spent hundreds of greenbacks.) Asking human beings to diminish their common of residing plenty, and pay greater taxes, for colder climate ... is a political non-starter.

As the article states, the anthropogenic effects remain but are counteracted by natural forcing, according to this climate model, for a couple of years. It is then estimated to make a 'jump' upwards, in 2009.

Yea - We're DOOMED if we don't act now, but nothing is going to happen for 2 years. It's the Emperors New Clothes.

There's also other researchers who track the warming climate with sun spot cycles. They have tracked their data back to the year 930 and they believe their data shows good correlation to the climate temps. These researchers are predicting a small cooling for the years 2010 - 2100.

But Al said Katrina and the droughts last year was caused by it. I guess Bush did it.
